And I think at this point I'm realizing what you really need out here is some good gloves and being able to wrap up your ears and your mouth and just your face because I think that would help tremendously. Because of this wind, it's really starting to bring some of that sand up here. It's not as rocky as we've seen with past storms before, but still those waves kind of pushing up on shore. The white cats really out in the distance. So that's definitely something that we're watching for. But honestly, so far what I've seen all morning, I took a morning walk today and a lot of people are out doing also their morning walk and their runs. A lot of people say they're layering up as much as possible.
And more than 10,000 U.S. flights have been disrupted, at least today. A partial shutdown of the federal government is underway. Fox's Chad Pergram tells us why.
That's because the Senate changed what the House passed last week. The Senate approved five spending bills, but Democrats insisted on holding up the DHS bill. They wanted changes at ICE. The Senate broke off the DHS bill and sent the rest of the package back to the House. That triggers a shutdown until at least Monday night. Now, House Speaker Mike Johnson implored Republicans to vote yes on Monday. That would end the shutdown after 70 hours. But DHS is only funded for two weeks.
It's unclear how many House members would support that revised package. Violent anti-ice agitators arrested Friday outside the federal detention center in Los Angeles. Thousands assembling in front of City Hall before marching to the federal center where a mob swarmed the area. This all coming as cities across the country took part in ice-out-everywhere protests. That's over 750 vertical launch tubes that can fire Tomahawk cruise missiles to hit targets deep in Iran or SM-3 and SM-6 destroyers. Missile interceptors should Iran launch a salvo of short or medium-range ballistic missiles. There are also submarines lurking in the area. Their names and locations classified. Some of these destroyers are part of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group now on station in the Arabian Sea within striking distance.
