And we're d also delighted to welcome Eloise Thiessen, who's a palliative care nurse practitioner at Stanford and CEO and co-founder of Radical Health Clinician Network, which helps patients use cannabis to treat chronic and age related illness. And I just want a big shout out to Alex Gamble, who was who said we have to get Eloise on a podcast to talk about this topic. So I am super excited to have you on, Eloise. Thank you so much. Yes. So we're gonna be talking about Medical cannabis, kind of revisiting it because we actually had one in 2021 with Ben Hahn and Bree Johnston talking about cannabis, including increasing use in older adults and less perceived risk amongst older adults using medical cannabis. Before though we get back into the subject, I think Eloise, you have a song request. Yep, I man, the the amount of songs you could choose from their podcast.
There were you both of you had some great suggestions. Yeah. So um thank you for all those terrific suggestions.

Well, David had a good one. I was kinda hoping you would have picked past the past the Ducci.
But uh
we We picked uh I picked How to Get You Into My Life by the Beatles.
Why did you pick this off?
The song was actually, um, Paul McCartney came out and said the song was actually about marijuana that he wrote back in the day. And if you listen to the lyrics, it really does talk about how much he enjoys using it and wants to get it into his life every day. And I think it represents the euphoric component of cannabis that we often don't discuss and fear. There's a lot of euphorophobia out there. So I think it's a great song.
Terrific. All right, here's a little bit. I was alone, I took a ride, I didn't know what I would find out. Another road where maybe I can see another kind of mine. No. Then I suddenly see you. Ooh. Did I tell you I need you every single day of my life? You didn't run, you didn't lie, you know I wanted just to hold you. And had you gone, you knew in time we'd meet again, for I told you. Um I'd like to start off just hearing from both of you why you got interested in this subject. And David, I'm gonna start off with you because you wrote an entire book about this. What wa wait, Alex is giving me is that a gummy. Do you want one?

Alex is just a little bit more than a lot of things.

Yeah. That's what they all say. Yes, Eric, do you want me to go first? Is that Yeah, go ahead, David. Yes. This is, you know, back in, I don't know, like 2014, maybe um Pennsylvania was thinking about legalizing medical cannabis. And I got involved in in some of those advocacy efforts, worked with a lot of really strong, powerful moms of kids with epilepsy who were really pretty inspiring because they they just would not take no for an answer and uh were not uh awed or overwhelmed um Or intimidated by lawmakers in in Harrisburg. They just kept at it.
