and Nick Dionodum. On what, Alex? On Project Enable, which is a plenary presentation at the State of the Science and with Nick Dionodum about the state of the science, which unfortunately and for all the right reasons is now canceled.
Yeah, so A HPM and the State of the Science, which was attached to the AHPM annual meeting, the HPNA meeting and SWIPIN were all canceled. We just heard about it today. Uh on Jarpal, we decided that we're gonna go ahead with this podcast because uh Marie's paper was published uh or abstract was published in JPSM and uh we talk a lot about interesting studies that she's published in the past.
Um learn all about Project Enable, a major landmark study in uh palliative care. And we felt it's important to continue with uh pushing this podcast out, even though at the beginning we do talk about SATA science a fair bit with Nick. Um, hold on to those thoughts because there's a whole meeting planned and hopefully that meeting will happen sometime.
Just not this year, folks. And we also wanted to say a very big thank you to all the um members of HPA, SWIPIN, the Academy, um, and all of the staff for those different organizations putting together what was supposed to be an absolutely wonderful meeting with the highest attendance ever. Um and it's very sad that it will be canceled. And the annual Pellymed Jerry Pelp up Girl also canceled. Canceled.

So with that, um With no further ado, we will get on with the podcast that we recorded a couple of weeks ago. Welcome to the Jerry Powell podcast. This is Eric Quadera. This is Alex Smith. And Alex really excited. This is somebody I've wanted on for a very long time, talking about something called enable. Enable. Enable. Who do we have on Skype with us today? So
we have two special guests joining us from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. First what's the emphasis there? They get very unhappy when we say leave off Birmingham. The first is Marie Pacitis, who's professor in the School of Nursing and co director of the Center for Palliative and Supportive Care at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. And the second is Nick Dionodum, who is assistant professor in the School of Uh Nursing and Co Director of the Caregiving and Bereavement Support uh Service at the University of Alabama, Birmingham and co chair of the state of the science, which we will also be talking about. Big thank you. To both of you for joining us. Before we start talking about enable, um, which is really one of the foundational palliative care studies, multiple studies out there. We always start off with a song request.
