The the game itself, uh look I like NFL. I I actually prefer watching NFL on TV than live.
Uh but as an event it th they just pulled it off. Uh and really showed uh New South Wales put it a you know, bit of a feeler out to to host the game, but wasn't really interested. Uh and Melbourne really showed what they could do. They missed a trick there in New South Wales. Well, look, Kenny, I know I sound like a bit of a fucking winger here, but I was a bit disappointed with the the stadium and just the the fact that you just couldn't see what was going on out there. But that's well, but that's the reality of it. Look, I I don't wanna come and chip pot the M C G But I I th I was having watched rugby league play down there, which where the field is bigger than an an NFL field, I thought it might look a little bit like a postage stand.
Uh what they did very cleverly though is they put signage around it, that electronic signage you see now. And when they sh w when they the broadcasters uh filmed it, they didn't s they didn't go past their their border did not go past the signage. So you couldn't see the the the vast expanse of grass between the signage and the actual fence of the stadium. So uh they they hid that very well. That said, that bottom tier where we were sitting, uh, you're always gonna have trouble. We we're okay 'cause we're at the end. But you're always gonna have trouble from the side because so many people in NFL stand on the sidelines. At least with it when you play rugby league or AFL there, there's no one between you and the the players, or very few anyway.
Uh this time though, uh that's just the way it is. Uh I I don't think there's any way around that. I wonder if they should go to a rectangle stadium. It's I if they keep going to Melbourne, I don't think I'd go again. I get it, but it was it wasn't. Cheapest ticket is four hundred dollars, well. Hundred thousand people, cheapest ticket's four hundred dollars. You're not gonna get they're not gonna go anywhere else. That's the reality of it. Let like Let's be fair to anchor about it. They're not gonna take it to a to a fifty or sixty thousand seat stadium where the viewing's better and cost themselves the best part of twenty million in ticket sales. Put the prices up, Kenty. Put the prices up. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well it was all of us. It's all right for us on freebies, but anyway. Yeah, minor. Yeah, I get it. I get it. I just yeah, I was a bit underwhelmed, mate. Anyway. I know, bit of a winger, but anyway, a bit like the sharks. We'll talk about them in a minute. But before we get to that, Kenty, let's talk about the news out of uh NRL headquarters, Nathan Cleary. Surprise, surprise. I nearly fell off with chair one when I found out he was still able to play. He's been cleared to play uh the primary final after uh being put on the report for dangerous contact, which has been thrown out. He's been given a grade one, which means he pays a fine. Uh but the c the the debate before it was whether he would get a grade two earlier the earlier this season.
Trey Mooney had a similar incident, you could argue, where he was hit with a uh grade two, cost him a game. Uh and that was the fear with Cleary, because as the uh as the referee said in the game, it was uh th there was uh Yeah. dangerous contact, uh and that he should be uh and and had s you know, some force with it and all the rest of it's uh uh there was a fear that the the r the the the match review committee would follow the referee's lead and give him a grade two.
