People that paint with their feet have got talent too. You know what I mean? She made I listened to her and I thought this w this would just tank at the NRL.
And thank thank God uh uh it's she's not playing, to be honest. Uh I I I I don't even know why the NRL even had attained the thought of getting her there because that song, look, mate, you you gotta be high on pingers to enjoy that song. Honestly. Like I I listened to it. I thought how could anyone sit through this? Uh uh in fact I don't even know how you could sing that. Th has to be some distortion put through the the microphone and all the rest of it. Uh and I tell you what, rugby league just dodged a big bullet. So well done, Peter Volandis. Uh Top job, honestly. Honestly, I I I I I Thank God she's a plan. All right, well let's keep going about that because uh Valand has come out and said they're inundated with offers.
Yep. Uh But we have we gotta get in our face for the way this was handled, do you think? Oh, look at I think and look, my initial my initial f emotion was one of uh embarrassment. I thought, oh gee, you know, rugby league's embarrassed itself again. But I'll say this, I'm not a big fan of the pre match entertainment. I think it's way overcooked. Which it's a really poor imitation of what they do at the Super Bowl. We're trying to copy that. We have this uh Uh flexing contest with the AFL every year over who's got the best out of timer. And I and and to be honest with you, mate, the in all the I don't know how many grand finals I've personally sat at. First grand final I ever went to was eighty six. Okay, as a as a I was still at school then.
Uh but that was the first grand final I went to, and then obviously from the throughout the uh the nineties into uh yeah, the well into the two thousands, I was going on every year for the grand final for work. I can only remember the Bad ones. There's a couple of good ones here and there that have been out Carth. Oh, last year actually was not bad. Mm. Uh I can't remember his name, but uh he was good last year when he did the T uh TNT and um Uh, I thought that was a pretty good effort. But overall, it's way overrated. It's got to this ridiculous stage now where the artists are ch are asking for far too much money. Uh, in the NFL where they have s the Super Bowl prima or halftime entertainment. Many of the artists there do it for nothing.
And they do it because they realize it's an opportunity to be seen right around the world. And they'll often sing their big song and they'll sing a song that they've got coming up or an album that from it that from an album they've got coming up as an advertisement for a billion people. Uh and they don't charge it. It's so sought after that they don't charge. Here's the flip side the NNL has to go cap in hand to all these artists. asking them to come and play, AFL's the same. And out of it, essentially they they charge a fortune, they do a pretty bang ordinary job most times. And then we have to sit there and and generally the overwhelming feeling after the uh the entertainment is Was that it? Mm-hmm.
There's very few that go your pump. That last year was very good. Well youth. Uh I'll get his name by the end of the show, I'll think of it. But uh anyway, the the point of that is Bad Bunny, was that his name? No, that was the NFL. Yeah, but that was atrocious. That was the NFL. Yeah, Teddy Swims. Teddy Swims, that's it. Teddy Swims.
