Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?

0.031 - 23.007 Kim Komando

Hey there, it's Kim, of course. After today's Daily Tech Update, this is amazing. I'm gonna share with you this week's Saturday Steals. It's just some of my favorite finds that will make life a little smarter, easier, and tech ahead, all at a great price. The big game is tomorrow, and if you're shopping for a new big screen today, do not fall for the 8K pitch. It's a waste of money.

I'm Kim Commando for NetSuite. AI is everywhere, and companies using it are pulling ahead. If your revenue exceeds seven figures, get their free guide, Demystifying AI, at netsuite.com slash kim. So why is 8K a bad buy? Simple, there's no 8K programming anywhere, none. The broadcast industry spent trillions converting to HD digital.

45.179 - 49.906 Kim Komando

They added 4K to what's called the ATSC digital signal, and guess what? They're done.

Chapter 2: Why is 8K TV considered a bad investment?

50.407 - 75.533 Kim Komando

Nobody's clamoring for another reason to upgrade a TV. The HD and 4K signals we have now are stunning. 8K is effectively dead on arrival. So here's what you should buy. The biggest OLED screen that fits in your room. Look for Dolby Vision with HDR10+, and make sure it has at least two HDMI ports. I'm giving away $7,000. Enter to win now at winfromkim.com.

I'm Kim Commando. Time for Saturday Steals. First up, a phone stand that does double duty. So it holds your phone and it's a speaker. So you get clear surround sound for your music, video calls. It's 47% off, only 19 bucks. So if you're still propping your phone up against a coffee mug, this one is totally for you. Next up, two smartwatch deals worth jumping on.

Apple Watch Series 11, 25% off, $300. If you're on Team Android, Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 is 26% off and it's $260. Both will track your fitness, sleep, heart rate, and they pair with your phone. And finally, two smart picks for when you're on the move. An anti-theft cross-body bag, 23% off, $25, and an AirTag wallet, 31% off at $26.

Now, what I like about these is both have RFID protection to block those digital pickpockets. And you can find links to everything right now at WTOP.com.

160.826 - 167.791 Unknown

We rent a lot of things, but now something wants to rent us? Okay, this is a wild story.

168.172 - 196.478 Kim Komando

It's all over the internet and social media. And I want you to know exactly what's going on. So you're right, there's a new site called rentahuman.ai. And this is a place where AI bots post jobs for humans to complete in the physical world. Things that an AI bot cannot do, like hold a sign, pick up a package, eat pasta. I wish I was making this up. And so far, about 70,000 people have signed up.

197.459 - 208.051 Kim Komando

The payment is all in crypto. And the tagline is robots need your body. And they call it the meat space layer for AI. Yes, somebody actually typed those words.

208.972 - 214.498 Unknown

And this is coming from AI, not some open AI or some company that owns it.

Chapter 3: What should you look for when buying a new big screen TV?

251.937 - 274.546 Kim Komando

It's actually kind of frightening, isn't it? That we have AI bots, AI agents that get to a point where they say, you know what, I can't do this. And now they know that they can go to a site and hire a human to do something that they cannot physically do. It's so bizarre to me.

Chapter 4: What are the benefits of getting an OLED screen with Dolby Vision?

275.127 - 300.372 Kim Komando

Now, let me just say this. I'm all for making money on the side, but this one has red flags everywhere. The security, sketchy. Payment is all in crypto. And there's something deeply weird about applying for gig work from a chat bot. So hard pass. Oh, by the way, somebody who actually did apply and hold a sign for an AI bot, it turned out that only one out of every three people actually got paid.

0

300.812 - 302.856 Unknown

Oh, no. Who's sending the payment?

0

303.629 - 321.386 Kim Komando

That's the other weird thing. I I'm like, my head is like I just said before, my head hurts over the whole thing. I'm like and I was trying to explain this to my husband and he's like, this sounds like a movie. I'm like, I know it's just bizarre.

0

322.287 - 339.576 Unknown

So to be fair, I think I can see that progressing to a point where it might make sense. But right now, I think I'm with you. A hundred percent. So we all want to clean out our closet, but now it looks like you can do that and make some spare cash while in the process.

0

339.877 - 356.477 Kim Komando

Oh, yeah. My friend Lisa, she opened her closet last weekend to donate some old clothes. And then she told me three hours later, she actually made over $2,000 selling stuff that she totally forgot about. And of course, all her skinny clothes that she said she's never going to fit into again. Those are her words, not mine. Okay.

356.957 - 380.228 Kim Komando

So if you have a closet full of stuff, and this is not just for women, it's for guys too. And you're like, you know, I'm not going to wear that ever again. I need to make some space. Forget about eBay. Forget about the Facebook marketplace, you want to go to sites and apps like Poshmark and Whatnot and Depop and Vinted, Mercari. And they all have their own little niche.

380.288 - 405.122 Kim Komando

But if you were just getting started, I would probably say go to Poshmark. The buyer pool there is massive. They take a flat 20% on sales over $15. And you can also go live, kind of like a QVC coming out of your closet. There's also whatnot that you can also go live. And that's kind of the big thing right now because you can actually watch bidding wars happen. Vinted is out of Europe.

405.302 - 430.859 Kim Komando

Depop is really where the Gen Zers are going. And that's for vintage and streetwear. So let me tell you what is actually selling right now. Vintage band T-shirts. I'm talking like T-shirts from the 80s and 90s. Some of these are selling up to 200 bucks. Designer bags are always a hit. Sneakers and jeans. Levi's 501s. Remember those? Anywhere up to $150 for Levi's 501 jeans.

431.981 - 436.388 Unknown

Where is this demand coming from? Is it out of nowhere or just a resurgence?
