Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
You've heard me talk a lot about consumer cellular, and there's a good reason. You can switch carriers, save money every month, and still get the same reliable coverage. Here's why I made the switch. Consumer cellular uses the same towers as the big carriers, so you're not sacrificing quality to pay less.
And when you call consumer cellular, you just don't get pushed to a robot or told to use an app. You speak with a real person, someone knowledgeable right here in the U.S. No bots, no scripts, no hassle. The best part, you don't pay extra to speak to a human being like some big carriers are doing now.
So whether you make the switch online, over the phone, or in one of their stores, you'll always work with a real person. Make the switch today and get $25 off at ConsumerCellular.com. And if you're over 50, get one line of unlimited talk, text, and data for only $35. Plus, get an additional $5 off for the first five months. That's ConsumerCellular.com. ConsumerCellular.com.
Your television, your microwave, your gaming console, all switched off, but they're all still draining power. It's called phantom power, and it can eat up your electric bill. The Department of Energy says you're paying $100 to $200 a year on devices that are technically off. That's right. The moment something is plugged in, it's actually still drawing power.
Here's the quick fix, and it costs less than $25. It's called a smart plug. It goes between your wall outlet and the device. That physically cuts power to the outlet completely, the same as unplugging the device from the wall. So no more phantom power.
Simply connect the smart plug to Wi-Fi, and then you control that outlet from your phone, or tell Alexa or Google to shut it down, and set a schedule too. It's all done. I have my favorite smart plugs listed right now at commando.com slash deals. That's commando.com slash deals. Next up, a call from my weekend show, the Kim Commando Show. Enjoy. Every business is asking the same question.

Chapter 2: What is phantom power and how does it affect your electricity bill?
And so you were talking about, you know, is this too much? And yes, absolutely. You know, I rather default to the privacy rather than the visibility.
Well, you know, there is a... A web developer guy who invented an app. And that if you're on Android and if somebody's approaching you with the metaglasses, it basically puts on your phone, whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop, metaglasses nearby, metaglasses nearby. But meanwhile, if you're on an iPhone, you're like, oh, hi, how are you?
Well, what if you were wearing a headscarf or a beard? sunglasses or, you know, a big hat with a floppy brim?
What does it look like? Well, it's looking for your face. And so if your face is exposed, your eyes, your nose, and your jawline, that's enough for facial recognition. Okay. Mirrored glasses, that actually is pretty effective, but it's not going to stop all systems. And so there are some other things that you can do. I don't know if you've seen online where people are wearing dazzle makeup.
They were like high contrast geometric patterns on their face. And so it's like it's almost like, you know, like when they are showing cars and they don't want you to figure out what kind of car it is and they put those weird patterns on it. You do that with your face.
This is just to confuse the cameras?

Chapter 3: What is the quick fix for reducing phantom power consumption?
Yes. So we're going to have to walk around with makeup all the time, like clowns. Yeah, heck no. So people don't know the last thing I posted on Facebook.
Or you can use, you know, the other thing you can use is like an infrared visor. That would not attract attention.
off when you get to your appointment where you're going you know i like the makeup though i mean think about that tracy you know you just like you have all these like geometric patterns i mean it'd be amazing tracy's on amazon right now buying a collection of ski masks so she can go out and about and not be identified since i heard since i heard that show i was looking online and there are anti-surveillance and facial recognition blocking
scarves or neck gaiters and masks. And it does, it looks like pixelated squares or swirls and blobs and such.
So, but you know, it's, but it's springtime, right?
Yeah. You're going to be in a bikini and wearing a ski mask.
