We're only a quarter of the way through the year, and I've spent a lot of time talking about tech-related layoffs and whether they're connected to AI or the economy. Today, the answer is clear. Tech-related job layoffs are the worst in five years. And now there's no question, AI is behind it.
While it's happening at major companies like Citibank, Amazon, and Dell, a look at Meta and Oracle gives us the best picture. Both are laying off thousands globally. But at the same time, they're spending like crazy on cloud and AI projects. In the crosshairs are techs, sales, recruiting, and mid-level management.
Goldman Sachs estimates that AI investments account for 5,000 to 10,000 technical job losses each month. Your head's on the block unless you pivot and learn how to use AI. Chapter 2: What are the latest trends in tech layoffs?
I'm a veterinary assistant, so I do dog grooming, things like that. I've done car detailing, painting. I've done murals for restaurants and things like that.
Oh, so you are really all over the board, huh?
Literally all over the board. Okay, I love that. If I could take advantage of it, I would love to do it.
I love that. So are you looking to maybe build a, your detailing business, your painting business, whatever it may be. I mean, as far as, you know, cause it was for something like that, you could set, you could create a local Facebook page next door and, And then because that you know the city, because you're driving around the city, right?
Chapter 3: How is AI influencing job cuts in major companies?
That you could connect local businesses with other things. You could actually sell your car detailing services there, your murals, whatever it may be. But you can set it up as say like, here's what's going on in this part of the city as far as with roads or what have you. And if you're wondering what this building going up is, that seems to be really popular online.
Is that like, if there's a, if a building's being knocked down or if a building's going up, what exactly is going to be there? So you would, so you'd kind of create something that you're with your intimate knowledge of the city. And then on the sideline, if you want this, this, or this, I can help you with that. Do you have any ideas?
I just wondering what kind of time are you looking at where, for you have that you have for your side hustle?
So, uh, I work generally like from five to five. Okay.
Um,
I mean, I was looking for things like if I could do like online, like right now I do have a drop shipping, uh, store that I'm, I'm doing. And I, I set everything up, you know, it was one of those things where my girl's like, we got to do this, take advantage of it now, you know, so we can quit, you can quit your job and, you know, just have a great life.
I'm like, babe, uh, let's do some research. But, you know, I, I kind of got it all set up. I got a cool concept and logo and, uh,
What are you selling with your dropshipping? Yeah, what are you doing?

Chapter 4: Which industries are most affected by tech layoffs?
So I have right now just a couple items on there. Just like a security camera. And I honestly forgot what else I have on there. I think it was like... some chargers. See, here's the problem.
That's not going to work. Especially those items. That's something you just go to Amazon, you click, click, click, and it's done.
A lot of people think, oh, I'm going to make a lot of money drop shipping. You're not going to.
Chapter 5: What steps can you take to adapt to the changing job market?
That's why I was trying to point you back into things that you can personally do. If you could build some type of business about your knowledge about driving around Virginia Beach, then use that know-how to then do other things so that people would be interested in learning more about you that way. Another thing you could do is take out TikTok ads and Google ads.
Chapter 6: How can you pivot your skills to remain relevant in tech?
Or a gimmick. There was an artist on TikTok who every single day... That's a good idea. Painted because you said you did the murals. He he painted a picture on a like one by one square on day one and then auctioned it off. It sold for a dollar fifty. He lost a couple of bucks shipping it. But then every day he got bigger and bigger and bigger. And he didn't make a ton of money.
But by the end, he had thirty five thousand followers and everyone saw the murals that he painted.
Yeah, see, that's something. That'd be a great idea, too. You know what? You can make a mural of me. No, I'm kidding.
Of course, she wants a discount. Get ready for that, Cortez. A discount? I want him to pay me. I mean, come on.
It's the digital goddess name, likeness, image, copyright, trademark.
Hello. Just saying.
So, you know, so, so think about, I guess, so the bottom line here is that, you know, think about something that you're really good at and that's your passion.
You've already got the side hustles with the car detailing and the murals. You need to market them better so that they can grow. Yes.
And channel those energies that way. Forget about the drop shipping.
