Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
This is amazing. Right after today's Daily Tech Update, I'm going to play for you a great clip from my nationally syndicated radio show. It's called, I know, The Kim Commander Show. Funny how that works. And hey, if you're not subscribed to it wherever you get your podcasts, what are you doing? You're missing out. You need this intel to live in today's world.
After squandering $80 billion, the sad saga of Mark Zuckerberg's dream, the virtual reality world called Metaverse, reached its inevitable end. I know, you're not using the Metaverse and neither is anyone else. So why is this newsworthy? I'm Kim Commando for The Current, our five-star rated daily newsletter read every day by almost a million folks just like you. Sign up for free at getkim.com.
In 2017, Mark Zuckerberg began a PR tour of America, popping up everywhere for no apparent reason. Behind the scenes, groundwork was underway to propel Zuck to, believe it or not, the Oval Office. Then came the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Facebook was selling your personal information. Zuck was hauled before Congress, where he sat on pillows to see over the table. And America was not impressed.
So if not the presidency, maybe he could be king of his own world, the metaverse. Nope.
Chapter 2: Why is the Metaverse considered a failure?
The metaverse is laying off hundreds. A presidency and a kingdom that never was lost. Do it now. Sign up for my free newsletter at GetKim.com. And now, as promised, drumroll please. Okay, that was pretty lame. A clip from my weekend show, The Kim Commando Show. It's pretty much the best radio show in the world, but I may be just a little biased. Sit back and enjoy.

All right, CES just wrapped up in Las Vegas, and that's where all the tech companies, they fly in, they show off their vision of the future, where startups with more funding than Sense show up. So many demos. The booths are the size of small nations.
So here are some things that got announced that you may be seeing in your future, and maybe you're sitting there saying like, Kim, I really want that. Razer, do you know about Razer, the gaming company? They have now Project Ava, This is a five and a half inch hologram girlfriend or boyfriend that sits in a little glass chamber on your desk.
How would you describe this to people who are just listening?
It looks like a hourglass. Like think of an hourglass where sand is falling through the hourglass, but instead there's a little hologram person right there in the center.
Chapter 4: How did the Cambridge Analytica scandal impact Facebook's reputation?
You pick your character. There's Kyra. She's a black haired girl who comes complete with thigh high socks. Sure. Zane is this beefy guy with snake tattoos. So you get to pick who you want. It watches you all the time. Great. Through cameras. And they say this way it can give you gaming tips and wardrobe advice.
Yeah, that's what people are going to use it for. Gaming tips and wardrobe advice. Here, take a listen. Morning, Joey. You were snoring again.
Chapter 5: What are the current challenges facing the Metaverse?
Definitely wear your favorite green jacket. Look, now we're really vibing. Have a good day. What do you think? Look, now we're really vibing. That doesn't sound inauthentic at all. Because I say that all the time. When Barry gets dressed, I look, now we're really vibing.
Thanks, Kim. LG bought Cloyd. pronounced like Floyd, Cloyd. This one I would actually really like. Has two articulated arms and actual fingers. It's a robot that can actually fold your laundry. It can unload your dishwasher, make dinner, and tell you the weather. Now, the coolest part is that this little guy will learn how you live. It starts interacting with you.
It knows how you like your coffee. But before you get too excited, it takes 30 seconds to fold a washcloth.
30 seconds. I mean, but I work out an eight hour day. Yeah. So I'll deal with the laundry. By the time I get back, won't do anything else. No price announced. Now, I have a question. Yes. Once he folds my shirt and puts it away, does he say, good, now we can be vibing because that's what I want from my technology. Now, what else can I do for you, sir? That's what I would like.
What are we, five years away from robots in the house doing all of our work?
I think probably less than that. I bet you three. All right.
Mm-hmm.
OpenAI is handing out stock packages averaging $1.5 million per employee. This is seven times what Google offered back in their glory days. And why are they spending so much money? Because Mark Zuckerberg is dropping billion-dollar offers to poach OpenAI's engineers. Now, meanwhile, over at Google, Google Gemini's AI summaries are apparently serving up dangerous health misinformation.
I know it's a shocker to everyone. What? Yes. AI hallucinates and it gives wrong information? The Guardian found it that you should drink your own urine for health benefits. All right. I'm going to pass. I'd rather die. So now they're hiring AI Answers quality engineers. Oh. Okay.
