Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
This is amazing. Right after today's Daily Tech Update, I'm going to play for you a great clip from my nationally syndicated radio show. It's called, I know, The Kim Commander Show. Funny how that works. And hey, if you're not subscribed to it wherever you get your podcasts, what are you doing? You're missing out. You need this intel to live in today's world.
The newest scam hitting America isn't coming from Russia or China. This one's homegrown. It's called the Wi-Fi 7 scam, and I don't want you to fall for it. I'm Kim Commando for The Current, my free five-star newsletter read daily by almost a million people just like you. Sign up now at GetKim.com. Here's the pitch. Wi-Fi 7 is blazing fast. On paper, it hits 46 gigabits per second.
Wi-Fi 6 maxes out at 10. Sounds like a no-brainer upgrade, right? Let's do the math. A 4K movie is about 15 gigs. Wi-Fi 6 downloads it in 15 seconds.
Chapter 2: What is the Wi-Fi 7 scam and why should you care?
Wi-Fi 7, 3 seconds. But be honest, you're not going to notice. Here's the real problem. Your internet plan is the bottleneck, not a router. Think of it like a highway. The router is the exit ramp. A fancier ramp doesn't make traffic move faster if the highway is still clogged. And one more thing.
Most phones, tablets, and laptops don't even support Wi-Fi 7 yet, so you're paying for speed that your devices can't use. This is why you need my free newsletter. You'll always be tech ahead. Sign up now at GetKim.com. And now, as promised, drumroll please. Okay, that was pretty lame. A clip from my weekend show, The Kim Commando Show.
It's pretty much the best radio show in the world, but I may be just a little biased. Sit back and enjoy.
Chapter 3: How does Wi-Fi 7 compare to Wi-Fi 6 in speed?

Meanwhile, Las Vegas hosted about 100,000 people this past week that all believe a smart toaster will change your life forever. I'm talking about CES. They used to call it the Consumer Electronics Show.
Chapter 4: What are the real limitations of upgrading to Wi-Fi 7?
It's the annual spectacle where all these tech companies show off their visions of the future. And we're going to be talking about it throughout the show today. Of course, flying cars, AI, everything, robots that fold laundry, and another smart refrigerator, because we all need that. Oh, absolutely. So, but let's start with something that I actually think is really cool.
You know how when you're watching the news or something like that, and you see like they have those big video walls? Those big video walls cost at least $100,000, $150,000, $200,000. So let's say that if you wanted one of those video walls in your house, you wouldn't be able to afford it, right? Plus you have contractors cables.
What if you gave me a raise? And at that point, the raise would solely be based on, I can get one of those.
Chapter 5: Why are most devices not ready for Wi-Fi 7 yet?
I would like a raise. I would like a raise too.
I think you should be paying me. You always turn it back to yourself for the privilege of being with me. People would pay big money to sit in your chair.
Go ahead. Go back to your thing. I tried to turn this into a positive for me, but of course not.
that video wall usually requires contractors cables and some guy by the name of mark is saying well that ain't up to code we need union to cover that that's right a company called displace they made four 55 or 65 inch tvs that snap together in a single screen and they just stick to your wall that means like no mounts no marks anything like that they say the whole thing goes up wirelessly in under 30 minutes
Each panel has a built-in battery, its own controller. You just wave your hand and it can expand. I think this is so cool. Very cool. Okay.
$40,000. Okay, I thought you were going to be like, and it's only $3,900. $40,000 is still out of most people's TV budgets.
Of course it is, but it's not $125,000. So what happens is that as this tech comes out, of course the price will go down.
Let me tell you something. The difference between $40,000 and $100,000, not much for me. Both unattainable.
Well, you know, speaking of TV, Barry asked me last night, hey, what's streaming on the TV? I said, dust. He didn't laugh. All right, here's a new one. You list your car. Someone messaged you saying they want to buy it from you're on Craigslist. You show up, meet them with the car. The buyer shows up with an expert mechanic friend, wants to look at the engine. Everything seems legit.
