Now joined by running back for your Minnesota Vikings, Aaron Jones. Aaron, nice to meet you. John Cresel, Brandon Milleschi. Um before we talk football, I do want to talk about uh you've clearly shown your passion towards the Army and our arms our armed services over the year. John uh sacrificed uh for our country. Um you have your own foundation, the ANA all the way foundation, which uh helps uh nonpro it's a nonprofit organization that supports youth and families with specific focus on aiding military families. I know both your parents were in the army, uh
I think everyone in the United States, you know, we we all have an appreciation for our military and armed services. I I guess you even have a different perspective because of how you grew up.
How does Aaron Jones introduce himself and the Vikings training camp setting?
Yes, uh John th first thank you for your service. Thank you. Um no yeah, I feel like If your parents have served, um and you were there when they were serving, you c you kind of served as well. Not just not just the children, but the significant others, the spouses as well. Um, they felt some of those hardships and then you can relate firsthand what it's like having to pick up and move and make new friends or prove yourself again on a football field or um adapt to a different culture and um a lot of military children And um they relate to each other in that way and some of my uh closest friends and still to this day were military children. Um, you know, we we're all starting school for the first time, uh high school for the first time in the new school, um, new place and you find the military kids and you guys just kinda just become friends right off the back.
You riding the bus together, you're together all the time. Um, but they you guys also like I said, you guys also uh can you guys have also lived that hardship. You know what it's like. Uh you know when somebody needs a arm around them or a little live me up. So uh it's a I would say it's an amazing community to be a part
of. Uh I was at an event last year with y you're involved with United Heroes League as well. Your foundation is as well and there was military kids there. Um and seeing you uh and I believe your mother was with uh and and There are so many people that do a lot of things. A lot of NFL players, they give back, but you can see how much it means to you because of your personal experience. Uh I thought that was awesome to see. But now how has that impacted being a military youth and all of the moving and the hardship that you deal with in that regard, how has that set you up for success in the NFL?
Oh definitely. I'm super thankful for the military in in that way.
Why does Aaron Jones emphasize his military family background and its impact on his career?
Um, just being able to um adapt to change quickly. come into a new place and just fit right in. Uh, you know, never Anything that seems hard is isn't really that hard. Somebody's done it before us, somebody's gonna do it after us, so there's no reason that we can't do it as well. But it it really just set up the structure for my for myself and my career and um discipline. Uh like I said, the structure where it's hey, this is what I'm doing, is it is it pouring into football? If it's not, remove it from remove it from me, you know. Um So th those things but I would just say uh Communication as well. Communication and then learning that hey You know, in the military everybody comes together for one common goal, no matter um
your race, your religious belief, your color, it could be purple, blue, it doesn't matter. Um, they're coming together to defend us and protect our country and a lot like on the football field we're coming together to try to win a championship.
