Bill Burr 0:01
Hey, what's going on? It's Bill Burr, and it's time for the Monday Morning Podcast for Monday, July 20th, 2026. Six, six, six, six. What's going on? How are ya? How's it going? Aw, geez. 523, Sunday afternoon, Pacific Coast time. I'll tell you, one of the easiest things to do in the world is to play with your kids. And then the hardest thing in the world is to try to get something done when your kids are there. If you're just playing with them, it's all good. The second you try to be like, could you guys just like not try to kill each other? And I'm just going to go in the other room and do X, Y, and Z. No. Dad. Dad. It just, it just, it's, it's. And you just look at them, you're like, can you guys just chill?
Bill Burr 0:59
Can you just chill? Give me 10 minutes. Can you just chill for 10 minutes? They're like, uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh. 10 seconds later, dad. Or there's a fight. When somebody needs something or something falls down, it's just, you literally. And then when you're hanging out with them, they don't do anything. They're just sitting there and they're just totally chill, eating a sandwich, looking cute as hell.

How does Bill describe parenting struggles and finding time to work?

Bill Burr 1:21
The second you leave, it's like they make like a plan, like, all right, let's fuck shit up. Immediately. Immediately. Everything we just agreed to is out the window the second he leaves this room. But anyway, I actually had a great day. I went on a bike ride with my son. And then we watched the World Cup final. And then we swam in the pool. And now I'm trying to get like a half hour of this knocked out. So tomorrow morning after I make him breakfast, I can do the other half. That's, you know, you pick your spots, right? So... Anyway, let's talk Jesus. First of all, congratulations to the Garden State, New Jersey. New Jersey hosted the World Cup Final. Not New York, New Jersey. No, New Jersey. If you went to the World Cup Final, you were only in one state.
Bill Burr 2:15
You were in the state of New Jersey. That's it. That's it. And you know why it's called the Garden State? Because it's fucking beautiful. Do you know why everybody thinks it sucks? Because New Yorkers only go as far as Newark Airport.
Unknown 2:32
And they're like, oh, this fucking place, fuck, it's ugly, it's fucking Ikea, fuck this fucking place.
Bill Burr 2:40
No, it's gorgeous. It is gorgeous. Especially, especially, especially north of the George Washington Bridge along the Hudson River. Oh, my God. Also, the people in New Jersey have the view. They have the view of the city. It's fucking gorgeous. When you're in the city, it's like, you know, it's up against your face. Listen, I'm not saying don't live in New York City. I'm just saying if some shit's going down in New Jersey and just because it's cool, you know, How come when, what was the Jersey Shore? How come when that was a huge ratings hit, how come New York didn't claim that? They didn't want any part of that. That wasn't cool. Anyway, I went to a Sagaba with a friend of mine and we watched the Constellation game, whatever you call it.
Bill Burr 3:38
France versus England. England. To see who was going to get third and fourth place. I have to tell you, if the World Cup final was like that game, I think you would have got America. That was the soccer game America has been waiting for. Ten goals. All right? This is America. Big gulp. Obesity. Ten fucking goals. We don't want that one-nothing shit anymore. We want that fucking Mexican guy to lose his voice going, go! We want to kick it up a notch. Emeril Lugasi. So I'm watching the fucking game, right? And I'm rooting for France. My buddy is, I don't know, I think he might be rooting for France too, but mostly everybody there was rooting for England. So England goes up 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, in case you didn't see it.
Bill Burr 4:37
They're up 4-0. At 3-0, my buddy goes, this is over, man. He goes, in soccer, you get up by two goals, it's over. And I'm like, yeah, tell that to Egypt. And he's like, well, I mean, there's exceptions to the rule, you know? So then it was 3-0 and then 4-0. He goes, man, this is a snoozer. So at halftime, I look at him and I go, I bet you 100 bucks France scores two goals in the second half.
