How does Geoffrey introduce the story and sponsors before the bedtime tale begins?

Geoffrey Austin Newland 0:00
You know, there are a lot of different places here in Night Falls, but during the day, I still find myself wanting to learn a little more about the world. That's what led me to Everything Everywhere Daily. It's one of the most popular daily education podcasts, even recently ranked the number one history podcast. And each episode is about 10 minutes, so it's easy to fit into your day. They cover everything from history and science to fascinating people and moments you might never have come across otherwise. Some recent episodes I really liked include one on the history of curling, which, as a Scot, I have a soft spot for. Tracing it back to medieval Scotland. Or their episode on the world's greatest art museums, which I find myself really drawn to.

I've always loved art, and hearing the stories behind these places makes it feel surprisingly immersive. So if you like the idea of learning something new without it ever feeling like work, Learn something new every single day with Everything Everywhere daily. Find it on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. If you've ever wanted to lose yourself in a land of wizards, goblins, and creatures that really shouldn't be able to talk, somewhere between the tales we tell here and somewhere entirely new, Hello from the Magic Tavern is waiting for you. It's an improvised comedy podcast set in the fantastical land of Foon, hosted by Arnie Niekamp, alongside his co-hosts, Udisor the Wizard and Chunt the Talking Badger.

Each episode, they interview the creatures, spellcasters, and adventurers that wander through from throughout the land. A mix of storytelling, improv comedy, and pure absurdity. Find Hello from the Magic Tavern wherever you listen to your podcasts.

Welcome back to Night Falls, the bedtime show of classic and original stories designed to guide you into a calm and peaceful sleep. I'm Geoffrey, and tonight I'd like to take you on an adventure I myself experienced not too long ago. With the snow still on the mountain peaks, my friends and I decided to try our hand at skiing, and it turned out to be one of the best days of my life. Relax, take some deep breaths in and out, and let me take you on a sleepy ski trip through the pine forests and down the mountain slopes of Night Falls. We walk to dappled sunlight on the soft sand of the beach. It had been months since I had felt the heat of the sun drifting through the pine trees and settling on my skin.
Geoffrey Austin Newland 3:14
As I relaxed beside Devani that morning, the heat of it felt like the heat of luxury. It was velvet, it was gold, it was silk, and it was silver as it sank beneath my skin and settled into my muscles. That morning I thought I felt the heat of the sun easing me into spring along with the clearing around me. Snow still blanketed the earth beyond the clearing, walling up a little against the borders of the incantation my friends and I had cast over nightfalls all those months ago to keep the cold at bay. It seemed as clear as day that the soft snow that had drifted out of the sky that evening prior had truly been winter's final flurry. There was movement out in the pine forest beyond nightfalls. The scuttling, a scurry, a sheepish shuffle to and fro as creatures big and small came out of hibernation and stretched their limbs and lungs for the first time in months.

The long winter months had left me feeling as though my friends and I had been caught up in a hibernation of our own. Nightfalls had been our burrow, the lake our water store, and the thick coats Lyra had stitched together for us, our very own winter fur. That morning, just like the creatures that lived out between the pine trees, my friends and I were waking up from the longest slumbers. Perhaps we hadn't slept for months on end, but the brittle cold of winter had given us cause to rest, to relax, to curl up beside the fire and wait out the weather. Even before breakfast, I felt the urge to stretch my legs to make the most of the soft sunlight dripping down the side of the mountains that morning.
