But This little bonus Sunday podcast was inspired by a fan of No Dunks, because a few weeks ago I jumped on Blue Sky. To solicit beach stepping questions. Hey, we're gonna hit the beach, you got MBA questions, drop 'em here, all that type of stuff.
Benji. He sent one in to me. And he said, Is LeBron on the Mount Rushmore of Lakers? If not, where does he rank? And I was like, Okay, we're not using that for beach stepping 'cause I just replied. I was like, LeBron is definitely not on the Lakers, Mount Rushmore. That's gotta be Kobe. Magic, Kareem, Shack. Like LeBron is maybe top eight or top nine because you could have Jerry West on that Mount Rushmore, there's Baylor, there's George Miken, you know, there's the Pau Gasals, the James Worthy's. Like I was like, LeBron is not on it. And so Benji responded with this, and I took a screen grab of it. For all of you on YouTube, so I'll just put it up here. For all the franchises, which player is the best that only played for that franchise? Dirk is obvious for the Mavs, Tim Duncan for the Spurs, but who would it be for the Raptors, the Bulls, the Blazers? To which I said. That sounds like a decent podcast idea. And here we are. So let's put it to the test. Is it a decent podcast idea? We're gonna find out over the next, I don't know, twenty to thirty minutes here. Because on today's no dunks, we're gonna go through all thirty NBA teams and try to decide. Who is the best franchise exclusive player? Now some of these are legends, like Benji listed there, the Dirk with the Mavs, the Duncan with the Spurs, but then you get to some other teams and it's like they're current players.
Because again, we're looking for franchise exclusive players, meaning you only played for one franchise your entire career. You take a lot of legends off the board immediately when you put in that caveat. Before I begin, I want to give a huge shout out to Basketball Reference for helping me figure this all out. They have a great little tool where you can like Generally put in Hey, I wanna find which players played for this team and this team, like Team X and Team Y. So that's really ha uh helpful. But you can also Just say Hey, just players that played for only one franchise. If you sort of select the same team, you know what I mean? Same franchise, like pick Atlanta Hawks twice, and then you'll get a list.
And a lot of these are like not very long lists. where a guy only played for one franchise in his entire career. And most of them are guys that played like One season, a handful of games. So they're obviously not really in the running.
