Taylor, how are you?
Doing well, Aiden. Thank you for having me.
Yeah, 100%. Just to start off, could you tell me a little bit about AHP and how it came to be?
Yeah, I'll try and be short and sweet. It's a training facility. It's a gym. I started it in 2017. I didn't know exactly what I wanted it to be. I wanted to train some athletes to help kids reach their goals, and it just kind of went from there. It just continued to grow, and we've got a ton of different athletes out, predominantly hockey and baseball, but we train downhill skiers, football, basketball, you name it. And then underneath the umbrella, we started an elite year-round baseball academy, the Renegades Academy, that has really taken off as well.
Yes, now 3-1 in the tournament out of, I guess you could say, the pool play as you start to move to the elimination rounds. I mean, this is the national championship, right? This is the best of the best. I heard of a comparison to pretty much the Memorial Cup, so... Very, very, very impressive that your squad was able to get there and also the only team from the Edmonton area that gets to go to this competition. I mean, when you think about these players and at the age they are, how big of an honor do you think that is for them and how do you think it translates into their play?
Man, I think it's a great accomplishment for the kids. It's something that we set out. We started out September 1, and that was our goal, was to get here and to win it. And it's been a tremendous event. This is the first year that Baseball Canada has put this on. It's the first time there's been a U19 Academy National Championship event. And they've really, really gone, gone above and beyond, even in conjunction with the Oaks Oaks dogs kind of gone the whole nine yards. I've been telling, you know, any, some other people, some parents, my coaches that, you know, I just think about trying to think about when you were 17 years old, 18 years old, it's been the coolest thing ever. And they've really, really done it right and done it up.
And it's, it's also as a baseball fan as well, it's tremendous to see where baseball amateur baseball is at in the country. Now there's, Just unbelievable talent on display. A ton of good programs from Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta has really kind of stormed onto the scene and grown in the last few years especially. So yeah, it's great to see and awesome for the kids.
And as you mentioned, growing quite a bit. And a few of the players on your squad are moving on to the collegiate level. Could you just let me know who those guys are and what kind of players they are to have earned a spot in a United States collegiate program?
Yeah, man. I mean, so we actually have 12 kids moving on this fall, and then we have two that are already committed for 2027, a kid going to University of Southern California and a kid going to Virginia Tech. But all 12 of our graduating players have college scholarships to various programs. They're all great players and great human beings in their own right. You know, and it's special to me because I went and played college baseball 2008 to 2012 when it was four years of my life. And I'm pretty passionate.
