And I remember like right off the top, first episode, Edmonton is having an oil change. Uh yeah, big, big fan of that. So the rookie game, you know, I wouldn't say it matters more, but it's It's definitely a great opportunity to see some young talent uh and and how they can attribute at uh you know, uh a level where, you know, these guys are these guys are pretty hot. Obviously, uh, you know the rookie game, Battle of Alberta doesn't get much better than that, does it?
No, it's always a great way to kick off the season and uh it's a shortened training camp so the stakes I think are a little higher for these prospects at this time of the year as opposed to years previous.
How does Brendan Parker describe the Flames’ current rebuilding phase?
So you got one chance and then training camp, main camp is right around the corner, so it should be fun.
Yeah, and uh it's an interesting time for the Flames because, you know, they are in a bit of a rebuild, starting to put together some pieces here. So games like this are a really good opportunity for these players to show what they've got. I mean, you take a look at the rookie game and and all the work that they do during the off season, development camp, rookie camp, I mean, how much different is a game situation for their development and and how can you really tell what kind of a player an organization has got through that?
Yeah, I think every stage is it's almost like you take it with a gra a grain of salt. I mean you kinda go back to development camp, that's where it starts for a lot of guys, especially those who are new to the organization through the draft and then you know, with that summer hockey and you kind of you get a little sense of what the skill level might be and why they were drafted, but you know, you're you're not seeing the whole piece. And then camp starts and obviously, you know, you start to see where things are at after a full year or a full summer of training and and maybe there's a little exercise that This and then the stakes become a little bit higher as well. And now it's kinda like the next phase of that.
Now this is gameplay. This is when it starts to matter. And you know, as you mentioned, it it it is it does mean a little bit more for these kids because in previous years, you know, last year the Flames played eight preseason games.
