We saw Tristan Jari last night, we saw Devin Levi, a couple Of nights before, um Frederick Anderson dealing with some injury. How confident are you in a in a tandem right now that looks like Devin Levi and Tristan Jarry?
Yeah, I think uh I think I'm confident in that. And more so that after last night, so I'm going a recency bias here 'cause Kristen had as good a game as he did. Uh but also from what uh we have seen from Devin Levi throughout this training camp, yeah, he was really good uh against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday, but through camp he has been solid and with this opportunity presented in front of him, that being an opportunity to be a regular NHL netminder after being in the American League the last few years, breaking into his pro career in the NHL in Buffalo, yeah, it looks like he's really taken advantage of this. So yeah, I th I think they're gonna be okay. Also, the the other part that really gives me confidence is the way the team is defended in these first three games.
Uh and you had you just had it on the on the clips there, Mike Babcock talking about being in uh having goaltenders with some predictability as to where the shots are coming from on the ice. And so far through the first three games, and it doesn't matter who's been in the lineup That's been the case. They they've done a really good job of not giving up grade A opportunities, not giving up odd man rushes. You have not seen a lot of two on ones and three on twos so far. And again, I know it's the preseason and I should pump the brakes a little bit. But they've That and the in the PK, you were talking about penalty kill earlier, that's been far more aggressive and and I think more effective.

So far, again, so far I know it's early.

Let's let's wait until Tuesday and everything's flying for real. And then we can make another assessment at that time. But yes, I'm confident in the goaltending for two reasons. The both of 'em have played well here in camp so far and the team's defended better.

Hopefully yeah you always want to. It's a goal I think you take a personal as defenseman when you're giving up a lot of shots and chances and then even our playoff series last year a lot of goals and rush goals and PK goals and everything. So uh that hurts so it gives you motivation this training camp to um really hunker down on the details and uh yeah Babs Babs definitely praises the the details and kind of the um I guess a little bit of the characteristics of being good defensively and that's being hard and that's being willing and uh that's being dedicated every time you're out there to make sure that you're making it as hard as you can against everyone. What's that? You're de playing hard defensively?
Yeah, you're a defensive. So I need to be doing yeah, it's definitely uh something that's my job and uh something I need to I need to do. Yeah.
It was Jim Matheson, I believe, asking the question there. Uh but yeah, I mean uh it is early, very, very early. It's preseason. None of these rosters are complete on any given night. You know, you're going to be missing uh at least one person, in most cases a few. But um from uh a standpoint of system and DJ Smith has come into this Oilers organization to bring in a new system and and bring in better. defensive play and uh not just the defense, the forwards as well.
