Boom. The Jets got 'em both signed to long term extensions and it kinda came out of the blue, didn't it?
Yeah. Yeah, i it is it is and you know this too, Bob, you you've covered this league long enough and certainly been had an eye on Winnipeg. Uh it it it you traditionally The Jets will sign people under the radar, and I recall Kevin Cheveldeoff, referring to the fact that if they you know It was their last year of their deal, both Connor Hillibuck and Mark Schefley. And he said replacing either one of those players, especially both of them, was very hard to do. as a number one goaltender and number one center, those they're just not kicking around. So obviously there was a lot of thought going into on on you know all three parties and er you know everybody kinda came to a conclusion that it was best they you know the two of them stayed and you know management and ownership clearly showed the Jeff's commitment to winning uh if Mark Scheifley and Connor Hellebuck had any questions about that and uh those were answered and as you've seen
over the past couple of years that that has certainly come to fruition. So it's been all in since that moment. And it's that uh listen, it it it had people in Winnipeg in a little bit of distress, but when those two names both players signed long extensions, uh the relief came in. They also sent a message to the rest of the team, you know, this this is for they're in it for the long haul. So um once Shipley and W Halibut committed, it became a lot easier to sell the s you know, sell the jets to anybody else that was coming up and we've seen that uh for the most part outside of Nikola Euler's departing because of free agency. Yeah. Yeah,
well the Jets, Jamie, had an amazing year last year and and it started with the opening game of the year when they pumped the weather's six nothing. We we knew they were gonna be good. So I I I'm gonna read ya the numbers, okay?
