There's been difficulties between Russell and Gregor Townsend going back a little while. Catastrophic news for Scotland. I've worked with Gregor since 2012. He was a Glasgow coach then.

Hello and welcome to Tuesday's Football Daily. I'm Phil Egan. Coming up today, the Israeli FA hit out at Ireland boss Heimer Haugumson. Ireland international Ciara Caruso set to feature on the opening night of the Women's Champions League. And just how has Jose Mourinho ended up back at Real Madrid? But first, the Ireland squad fly out to Kosovo today ahead of their Nations League opener on Thursday night. It'll be the first of four games for Heimer Haugumson's side in this international window. Ireland then play Israel in Hungary on Sunday and a week later, the designated Irish home match will be staged in Serbia between the two sides. Last week, Halgrimson described the upcoming games against Israel as playing against genocide.

The Israel FA is hit out at Halgrimson, accusing him of ignorance, hypocrisy and stupidity. It's been reported the Israel FA are considering filing a complaint to UEFA over those comments. The FAI has declined to comment on Israel's social media post. No doubt Halgrimson will be asked about it at his pre-match press conference tomorrow ahead of that game against Kosovo. Calls for a boycott of the games have ramped up amid the backdrop of the ongoing events in Gaza. Last September, an independent UN commission concluded Israel has committed and continues to commit genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

How will Ireland’s squad perform in their Nations League opener in Kosovo?

Arsenal boss Renee Slager says she's confident they've built a squad to cope with the demands of the season. They take on Koo in the Women's Champions League tonight, with Ireland international Ciara Caruso set to feature for the Danish side after scoring for them over the weekend. Arsenal have drawn their last two WSL matches and have a trip to Chelsea to come on Sunday. Slager says they're ready to get things back on track.

Basically only senior national team players, so much quality doubled up in every position is that we can use the whole squad and especially when it's short turnarounds and we need freshness.

That game starts at 8. Elsewhere Manchester City, the WSL champions are away to Bayern Munich at 5.45. Inter host BK Haken, Juventus take on Benfica and Real Madrid go up against PSG. Atletico Madrid have hit back at Real Madrid's criticism of officials after Sunday's derby in La Liga. Real boss Jose Mourinho arrived at his post-match press conference with images printed out of what he said were controversial moments in their 2-1 loss. Atletico responded on social media with an image of Mourinho in the caption, Stop referee harassment now. Spanish football writer with The Athletic, Dermot Corrigan, joined Colin Buick and Ender Collin on Off the Wall Breakfast on Tuesday morning. And Corrigan explained why Madrid president Florentino Perez loves Mourinho.

was finished Dermot wasn't he I mean that was that was the consensus of Jose Mourinho he was done with the modern game tactically there was a talk that certainly when it came to final third coaching he was very limited and essentially it was like do as you please because I'll sort out the defense and we'll work on and that worked amazingly and made him legendary for the first decade and a half of his career but I wonder how he's found himself back at the top level of the game and
