If you're a private practitioner or one in the making, you're in the right place, so let's get started. Katie Brown is an adult focused private practitioner in Buffalo, New York. She works with adults with a variety of neurogenic disorders such as aphasia, cognitive impairments, swallowing, and voice for people with Parkinson's. This means that she has a lot of experience billing Medicare, which is what we're going to talk about on today's episode. I first met Katie when she was a student in my Start Your Private Practice program. She joined the program back in 2019 and quit her job at the hospital that she worked at because she cared more about evidence-based practice than they seemed to, and she knew that her patients deserved more.
On a personal level, she started her private practice because she wanted to have a more balanced life with her family. At the time, she had one child, and now she has two little boys. Over the past three years, Katie's practice has grown from operating out of the trunk of her old Honda to hiring employees and having her first brick and mortar space. She's also grown from being a student in Start Your Private Practice to being hired as one of the mentors to help support our adult-focused Start students.
