Phil Mackey 0:43
For some of you it may feel like the dead of the football off season, but for the real siccos, the hardcores, it's OTA season football around the league right now. Uh Thor, do you do you get excited about organized team activities?
Thor Nystrom 0:57
I sure do. Yeah, seeing seeing seeing the boys back out there on the field yesterday, it's like, man, we're only we're only months away now. So yeah, absolutely.
Phil Mackey 1:05
Uh I'm I'm I'm I'm a phase three OTA guy myself. Phase one gets me a little ramped up. Phase two, uh, phase three, they're all very different. So we're gonna get into uh some of our football takes here. Thorne Eystrom in the house, producer declan Phil Mackey, uh presented by North American Banking Company, where uh for the especially the upper Midwest audience, uh they can give you a better banking experience that involves humans who are friendly. And knowledgeable that community bank feel. They'll take the time to learn, like they did with me, about your life, your goals, business, personal, whatever it is. And then they value the safety and security of your accounts with cutting-edge online tools.
Phil Mackey 1:44
They've been invested in delivering a better banking experience since 1998. So if you are looking to make the switch and upgrade your banking experience, maybe you should try North America. American banking company, N A Bank Code dot com slash Mackey member F D I C equal housing lender. Uh, Thor, I I saw Mike Vrabel spoke to the assembled uh Patriots OTA reporters today, which is probably a good segue into your first football take on the show here. Fire away.
Thor Nystrom 2:16
Which is the era of insider reporting in the NFL has taken an enormous shot after the Vrabo Dynast Racini fallout. And I'm not sure it ever totally returns to what it was before, at least in terms of the public trust. That Vrabo Racini saga that you know is obviously why all the people the interest in in in the comments today, it exposed the model of what the insider reporting thing. The insider business it runs on the ability to have access, intimate access, to the uh source in question that that holds that information. Um and that Vrabo Racini uh situation, a too literal demonstration to the public of what intimate access can signify. This is a system in which those holding that information want something in return for it and perhaps understandably so.
Thor Nystrom 3:08
It it's very, very valuable to the people on the other side. And it's also a system where those disseminating that information are willing to be used in exchange for the value of possessing that information. Nobody believes that Jay Glazer or Adam Schefter are sleeping with sources for scoops. But the Racini scandal itself calls into question how those insiders acquire the given information that they are reporting. And it begs the question of what they're being expected to give. in order for that valuable information. The insider world, it's more about trading than it is about innocent information aggregation. The latter is almost always dumped to the local media in a group. But when you're talking about the valuable, valuable piece of information that you're not just going to bring to that that group of reporters, again, the audience now must wonder uh what what is being the you know the what how the source's back is being scratched when they read sources.
Thor Nystrom 4:04
Say in in a story. They also must trust that specific insider to not be coloring outside the lines professionally or obfuscating a part of the truth in the report that they're giving or disseminating a mouthpiece, mo a mouthpiece's personal agenda while calling it breaking news to the audience.
