Alloita ilmainen kokeilu shopify.com-sivustolla.
Super Bowl no problem. Turn Daily is Daily Vikings Entertainment. I just want the Vikings to win a Super Bowl before we die. I will ride with this group! Seriously, man. Please. And away. Go. And welcome into another edition of Purple Access Chipscoggins. Judd Zolgad, quarterback competition done. Kyler Murray is your starter. JJ McCarthy is your backup for now. Um, so it it's been a uh it's been an interesting last p uh couple of days. Kyler obviously was named the starter on Tuesday. He talked after practice. I think you were there for that. Um JJ talked yesterday after practice. Just your thoughts on uh two weeks of uh two weeks. Yeah, yeah. Two weeks. Two weeks of our lives gone.
I to me there's two different pass here, two different topics. Sure. One, the outcome and two, the timing. So let's let's start with the outcome. I don't think anybody could be surprised. And and I wrote this call in the other day, is like J J to me, J J didn't lose this competition in the last two weeks. He lost it last year. That the fact that they felt compelled to bring in not just a journeyman, not just bring Carson Wentz back or a Joe Flacco type quarterback, but they felt the need to go out and get someone w with Kyler Murray's Murray's repu um Resume, his status, his Right. He was not gonna he was not gonna be the backup. Jud and you I I think say in the uh You're hosting a competition with pr two things.
Aid keep J J motivated.
Who are the new quarterback starters for the Vikings and what led to that decision?
And two You had to make sure Kyler wasn't gonna fall flat on his face here. And anoint him the starter before you even saw him run your offense. So As long as he didn't face plant I don't know what you're gonna say.
Well sorta
did. Uh but as long as he didn't completely face plant As long as he showed up and his pulse he had a pulse and yeah. Correct. Um he was gonna be the starter and so the outcome doesn't Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. The timing, yeah, no, we can talk about that because it w I think a lot of people were like, No, wait a second. He just had this bad uh Sunday night practice and you're gonna do it the next day. I to me there's theories on that. One At some point Splitting rifts becomes counterproductive to either guy developing and really getting comfort because we've heard comfort, comfort, comfort. O'Connell has said used that word a bunch so far in training camp, comfort. He wants the quarterback to feel comfortable in her system.
Well, if you're splitting the reps, It's counterproductive. And so where that went, the competition and You just you saw the lack of consistency from both quarterbacks. I I do wonder if it was O'Connell, staff, no one teasy coming in and say, you know what? If we feel like we know what the answer is gonna be, let's just do it now and s and not try to drag this out anyway. That that to me is probably why the timing, um, even though Kyler had a bad practice on Sunday. Back and name him the start of the next day. I th I think people were like, What? What why now? To me, I think it was. If you feel like he's your starter, just name in the starter so you can get all the reps. Um The other thing about the timing is
The longer it went and that there was no separation. The more people are gonna say, Hey, is J J win? Is Kyler win? Is J At some point, um I I just don't know that I don't know when you're splitting fifty percent reps that you're ever gonna And maybe it was Completely fifty percent, but close that you're ever gonna have the separation that we all thought we were gonna see. It's just not enough. There there's the inconsistency was continuing. You saw those good moments, some bad moments, and I I just think
