What's up, everyone? Welcome into Thor Talks Purple. It's a mock draft Monday edition of the show.
How does the Brendan Soresby case impact his eligibility and draft prospects?
Before we get to that, we had some uh interesting breaking news here this morning, uh, Monday, June eighth from Pete Thammel, AJ, that affects uh the next NFL draft for sure and affects a potential theoretical supplemental draft that we thought we were gonna get here in the next couple months.
Yeah, yeah. It's uh it's one of those th uh breaking news articles that doesn't really necessarily go straight to the Vikings, but it's very worthy of a small conversation here on the show today. And it it was uh news that was handed out just early this morning. Um I know impacts college football and kind of that stuff moving forward. So Thor, um, let's get into the details on that regal uh evolving around Uh Soresby. Big decision this morning.
Yeah, um I uh uh a judge in Lubbock, Texas or in Lubbock County, Texas has granted an injunction that uh allows Brendan Soresby to return to Texas Tech where he transferred over the offseason a quarterback who had transferred in uh from Cincinnati that will allow Brendan Soresby to play in twenty twenty six, uh, which is pretty wild based on the uh uh gambling allegations uh against Brendan Soresby right now. Um and we're not gonna get into that entire story, but you know, Google Brendan Sorsby gambling if if you want to see more on that. But pretty wild. We we thought that this thing was headed for the supplemental draft and there hasn't been a supplemental draft pick in the NFL since twenty nineteen.
Uh that was when the Cardinals used a fifth round pick on Washington State safety Jalen Thompson. How Haven't had one since then. We really thought this was setting up for a supplemental draft. And uh uh Soresby, I think he probably with the gambling stuff uh there uh and him still being raw, even though he he does have first round physical tools, um, but there's still the rawness there. Uh and with the questions of the gambling, certainly was not gonna get a first round call in that thing. But I think third round um and maybe fourth if the if the NFL was particularly skittish, but coming off a year where you saw a a guy like uh Carson Beck go in the early third round and Cade Klubenick go early in the fourth round, Soresby is clearly a better prospect than both of those guys.
