And one day off of the second OTA session that was available to the media, where we got some very interesting notes, including Judd's camp notes last night at Running Aces. AJ, we have some stuff to talk about, so let's hop right in.
Yeah, it was one of the things that came out, I think, an hour after we recorded yesterday's show, Thor. Tom Pellicero with a report kind of indicating that the back and forth QB competition going on for the Vikings between JJ McCarthy, Kyler Murray potentially is already set to be coming to a close with it. I believe the quote is nearing its end. Your immediate reaction now roughly 24 hours later after this report and just where you sit, your take on it. What are your thoughts?
You just, you kind of shake your head at some of this different stuff. Pelissero is very plugged in and Pelissero, was it a week ago? Only a week ago where he was in front of the cameras imploring people that this is a real competition. You can believe Kevin, trust me on this. This is a legitimate competition. There's people out there that are saying this is a sham competition. You are wrong. I can tell you for sure this is a real competition. And then a week later, he's calling the competition before you get to training camp. And I'm not saying that that's Pelissero switching his tune unilaterally. He's obviously talking to people within the building. The reporters haven't seen enough. First of all, A training camp competition doesn't start until training camp begins.
If the thing that the Vikings are going to do, that O'Connell is going to do here is, oh, well, we split reps in OTAs. That was the competition. That's not a competition. That would just serve that it's the sham thing that most people thought. and we'll have to see on that, but yeah, this situation here, it's obviously creating a little bit of friction and the reporting on this and that different stuff. It doesn't do anything to dissuade from the idea that the second that Kyler signed, he was just given that job that there was never going to be a competition.
And what, I mean, moving forward, do you feel like the if this is true and kind of how things are going about salvageable relationship between that QB room because now it sort of feels like we're heading down a path and this is just my thinking and how I've you know, how I'm interpreting some of the reports and just reading press conference comments and whatnot and media availability. But it seems like we're heading down a path where the relationship between JJ McCarthy, Kevin O'Connell is just unfixable. Like there's nothing that's going to be able to patch that up.
That's what it feels like from the outside looking in, for sure. This is not a thing of physical ability or potential into the future to work around. This seems like a conflict between two folks that does not look like the fissure is going to heal here. And I don't really – it's hard to know without being inside of the building.

But, yeah, it seems pretty clear that that's what this is. And, you know, you also don't know, is there anything that could have been done to prevent this? Is there anything? But yeah, we get right back to OTAs and then it's just the same stuff as last year. And it's like, didn't you guys have four months, five months to... get on the same page, talk things through. Um, although, you know, I'm sure on the McCarthy side, they'd say, well, you know, right after the season, they, they signed a guy to, to take the job and then they, they said it's a competition, but it's not, you know? So I, I understand kind of the feelings on, on both sides of it. And, um, yeah, right now this doesn't look like the, the best situation, um, there, right?
