Everyone, welcome into Thor Talks Purple. We have a pack show here. Today we're going to get into the NFL's spurning of Brendan Sorsby and the supplemental process this year. We are going to get to the enormous new five for five legislation in the uh in college sports and what that means for pro sports. And I've been watching a bit of Tradez Green, the LSU tight end, and so we are also going to talk about him on today's show. You ready to get into it, AJ?
Yeah, absolutely. But I think you mentioned it. Uh we'll start off with this. Brennan Sorsby, uh the decision comes down from the NFL. The league sent a uh a letter to Soresby and all thirty-two NFL teams announcing that they uh will not be having a supplemental draft. He will not be eligible to join the NFL in twenty twenty six. Um, the letter reads Under the uh our collective bargaining agreement, the league retains sole discretion to determine Whether it is appropriate to conduct a supplemental draft in any given year, the league has not conducted such a draft for several years, and prior to your submission, the league had no plans to do so this year, as no other player has sought entry. Your petition, filed three business days before the deadline without any supporting information or documentation, and only after abandoning your recent litigation efforts to avoid NCAA sanctions, does not provide a basis for the league to alter those plans.
The issues presented by your petition are too significant and too closely tied to the League's core integrity interest to permit meaningful review within the timeline presented. Um and then after this, Sorsby and his uh legal counsel announced that they will be searching revenues and ordered or avenues to um I guess almost I I I guess sue the NFL or s t take action in order to uh counter counter this. They're they're saying it's a violation of the league's collective bargaining agreement. It's tough though because they think they want to pair up with the NFL PA, but he's not in the NFL, so he can't be unionized in the player association. But n Thor, your reaction to this decision by uh the NFL, no supplemental draft here in twenty twenty six.
Yeah, I'm I'm of big time mixed opinion, mixed kind of emotions on this thing. Like I understand on the on the one side, the the rule is that the NFL does at its sole discretion can do the supplemental draft or not. So I so I guess, you know, they're within their bounds as as far as that goes.
