But AJ, we begin today with some JJ McCarthy talk.
Which situational stats does PFF highlight as most important for JJ McCarthy’s 2024 season?
Yeah, Thor, last week uh the QB annual from PFF came out. We wanted to dive into it. So I'll throw up a visual on screen for the YouTube audience here, um, but I'll have you talk through uh this kind of JJ McCarthy breakdown for uh for the audience here.
Yeah, uh PFF they they go deep into the statistical profiles of all the quarterbacks that, you know, put up a uh significant sample in twenty twenty five. The um mo and and we got a question yesterday on asked or anything about the um McCarthy stats, you know, and and some of them are really good. And then there's a lot of them that are not good, and like which ones matter and and which ones don't. And I think people know the thing of McCarthy finishing last. Last year, uh second in big time throw rate uh behind Matthew Safford. I think people are aware of that. Um there was an interesting stat that that we learned in this manual, which is PFF, they have a model that um uh basically maps the amount of interceptions that you should have had under sort of normalized circumstances, normalized luck.
And they had JJ McCarthy as having the worst interception luck in the NFL last year. Season in his small sample, JJ throws uh 12 interceptions. The uh PFF model had uh that basically it should have been minus five point two of that. The model expected him to throw six point eight uh based on on the sample that he put up. Um, and again, the actual amount was twelve.

So that that was that was kind of interesting. And people that watched the Vikings last year, you can already sort of watch. In your mind's eye, a couple of these. You had the one that clanked off Naylor's hand and became an interception. Like we we had different stuff like that where um you you could see the luck, you know, the or the the lack of it right in front of your eyes as far as that went. But um in uh you know, another sort of contextual stat here um to to sort of put on uh the the McCarthy ledger there.
Yeah, I mean When you when you look at this and it just he he is like i he is one of the he well, not not even just one of according to this, forty three of forty three qu qualifying passers, the most unlucky quarterback uh from from last season.
