What happened to the Packers in their Thursday night loss to the Falcons?
And now it's time for Inside the North, presented by Five Hour Energy, a show dedicated to the team you love and the teams you love to hate. In the legendary black and blue division, starring former Chicago head coach Dave Wansted.
Does he run it with a different scheme or does he just line up good and say we're gonna throw it in crossing routes and fix?
Former Green Bay kicker Mason Crosby. And if all of a sudden you're up ten points in the third quarter, can they find a way to close out the game?
Minnesota legend Chad Greenway. That's the one thing that people talk about is his ability to identify a weakness, identify a gap or a hole, and exploit it.
Former
Detroit lineman TJ Lang. They're gonna have to find somebody that can help take that workload off of Jameer Gibbs. These shots that you're taking in September are gonna start to add up.
And now, here's your host from the score in Chicago, David Haw.
Welcome to Inside the North, the weekly show looking at the most rugged division in football, the NFC North. Brought to you by Five Hour Energy. I'm David Hoff from the Score in Chicago for Odyssey Sports. And each week I'll be joined by Dave Wansett representing the Bears, TJ Lang talking about the Lions, Mason Crosby, the kicker from the Packers, and Chad Greenway, longtime linebacker of the Minnesota Vikings. All right, guys, let's get right into where things are. stand in the NFC North as we await week three. We got to go around the horn though. The big game Thursday night, the Packers. What happened to the Packers? 35 to 14. They dropped to one and two. They they lose their home opener for the first time since 2012 to the Atlanta Falcons.
Let's go around the horn, get a quick reaction to what in the heck is going on in Green Bay. Start with Mason Crosby. Mason, can you explain what we saw against the Falcons?
Yeah, you know, I wish we could just say I think the Falcons are a lot better than uh anticipated, but uh from their their first two games, I'm not sure we have a ton of evidence of that, other than that they come into Lambeau field and they found a way to outphysical, out, outplay this Packers team. And for me, it's it's just the consistency across the board. I mean, we we thought this defense might be something special, and then they just give up. Up 195 yards on the ground to Bijan Robinson. They're giving up uh Drake London had 190 receiving yards. So There are holes all over this team. There's a holes all over the field. And the hope is that they played on Thursday. They can take the weekend, uh, kind of lick their wounds and get back on track, uh, going into uh a tough stretch because this first three or four games were were games that we thought uh this Packers team could handle pretty pretty easily here.
TJ, what'd you think of
that
game on Thursday night? I thought it was horrendous from the the Packers standpoint. And and watching that game Thursday night was just like Mason said, the the physicality, the discipline, uh the the the mental toughness, the physical toughness just wasn't there for that that team for in in Green Bay. And anytime you allow, you know, the Falcons to come in and run for over 200 yards. Um and I think even the Packers had what nine carries for like Let me check 17 yards. That's just abysmal. I think they turned into a finesse team that just, hey, we're gonna try to take our shots downfield. Well, that's great if you're running the football and you can start to draw those safeties up and to get them to bite up and get some one-on-ones in the back end, but they weren't able to create really any of that.
And it just wasn't very complimentary football. When the offense needed help, the defense was failing. When the defense needed help, the offense couldn't find a way to sustain a drive. uh to to get back in that game. And man, that was just uh that's shocking. But I think at the end of the day it shows you the parody of this league that any given Sunday, it doesn't matter who you are, it doesn't matter what happened last week. You have to take every single team serious.
