Chapter 1: What insights does Nate Tice provide on the Bears' NFL Draft strategy?

0.031 - 4.922 Nate Tice

Hello and welcome to Football 301. I'm your host, Nate Tice. Joining me tonight is my good friend, Nate Tice.

4.942 - 5.623 Marshall Harris

Nate, how you doing, buddy?

0

5.643 - 26.642 Nate Tice

Let's go ahead and bring in Nate Tice. He can do the real tight end stuff. You don't have to hide him. So I just think you can just do... There's the potential to do more with Loveland than Warren, which is kind of... because of how they were used in college. When Kyler Gordon's out there, he's a dynamic slot player. So you need a safety, a guy that's truly deep end, borders, or a box player.

26.802 - 31.81 Nate Tice

And I think both of these guys, I actually prefer McNeil Warren a little bit for this defense and just a little bit overall.

With Rahimi Harrison-Grody on 104.3 The Score.

36.515 - 54.844 Leila Rahimi

That is the stylings you just heard of Nate Tice, Yahoo Sports staff writer. He analyzes NFL draft trends and prospects. His videos online are great as well. I catch a lot of them on Twitter. And he joins us via our hotline here on Rahimi Harrison Grody. Nate Tice, thanks for coming on.

55.533 - 79.853 Nate Tice

Thanks for having me. You guys are in my neck of the woods in Vegas. I'm only about 20 minutes from you guys right now over there at Circa. I heard Robert's voice in that little intro, my old co-host Robert Mays, and I turned on like the Winter Soldier. I was like, all right, let's go. We got a show going. So thank you for that. That got me salivating with that intro. Great to see you guys.

80.288 - 100.352 Leila Rahimi

Great to see you as well. And Nate also joins us via Twitch, twitch.tv slash the score Chicago. And Nate, I think you've done a lot of Bears talk. I feel like you were talking about the Bears before they were cool. And now we get to the point of the season where we're trying to figure out what to do with the draft. A draft Jordan Schultz says, for example, is going to be trade heavy.

100.452 - 104.457 Leila Rahimi

How do you feel about that? And then what do you see the Bears priority in the first round?

Chapter 2: What positions should the Bears prioritize in the first round of the draft?

380.168 - 392.384 Nate Tice

Like the trades are going to be kind of nullified a little bit as far as the capital that you have to expend to make those trades. So I think with that, that leads to more trades when people aren't asking for everything. Unless you're the Eagles and Howie Roseman, he'll ask for everything every single time.

Fair enough.

Hey, Tice, I had an enjoyable time on the flight from O'Hare to Las Vegas last night. One of the things I did was watch the 301 podcast with a guy named Mike Tice as your guest, the father of Nathan. I got a couple questions. First of all, were you Nathan growing up? Because I noticed right away, of course, Mike Tice, the former Vikings head coach, former Bears coach as well.

419.932 - 426.761 Unknown

He was their offensive line coach, and I believe assistant head coach. I think he had that distinguishment as well. But did he call you Nathan growing up?

427.041 - 441.4 Unknown

And I know the answer to the test, but I'd like you to tell the people and try to express his opinion and yours as well on a guy on another offensive lineman that has been mocked to the Bears and several of these out there on Twitter in Caden Proctor.

442.207 - 464.198 Nate Tice

Oh, yeah. So he called me Nathan usually only when I was in trouble or trying to make a point. You know, it's Nate mostly. And a lot of people say Nathaniel, which is just Nathan. I was named after the hot dog stand. See, that was the thing is my sister's name is Adrienne. My parents' first date was Rocky. Okay. So they went to see Rocky. So she gets Adrienne.

464.498 - 480.576 Nate Tice

And then I'm like, okay, you know, it has significance. It's their first date in high school. All this stuff. And then I was like, so why did you guys come up with Nathan? They're like, eh, we just like the name. You know, it's like, so significant story. And then my mom exclaimed, Paulie. She was like, no, you're not naming him Paulie. You know, Adrian's brother.

Chapter 3: How does the lack of consensus impact the draft strategy for the Bears?

876.983 - 887.446 Leila Rahimi

But there was good strategy there, so thanks again for joining us. The Football 301 Podcast is where you can still hear Nate. You can read Nate at Yahoo Sports. Nate, thanks again for joining us.

Chapter 4: What are the advantages of trading up or down in the draft for the Bears?

892.238 - 893.741 Mark Grote

Nathaniel, Joey.

0

894.042 - 894.904 Leila Rahimi

Don't call him Nathaniel.

0

894.964 - 895.906 Mark Grote

Paulie. We're not doing that.

0

896.147 - 896.888 Leila Rahimi

Paulie.

0

897.55 - 905.648 Mark Grote

I do like Paulie. I could hear his dad because he's got the New York. Hey, the kid's going to be Paulie, okay? He's Paulie Tice.

905.628 - 922.455 Leila Rahimi

Adrian is a great name. I love that name. That is nice. Coming up next, we are at Circa. And since we are, I know the morning show has them on every Friday, but we want our Palm Friday, okay, before Palm Saturday. So Mike Palm, Circa Maestro, joins us next. I'm Rahimi Harrison-Grody.
