What did Rob Parker say about the White Sox’s chances to win the AL Central?
Let's go! Rahimi Harrison Grody flashback. Flashback.
I'm just not there yet with the White Sox to to crown them or think they're gonna win the Central. If they do, I'll gladly come back on the show. You can feed me uh Crow and all that other stuff. And if I'm right, you'll bring me back on and say, you know what? This guy's been covering Major League Baseball for 40 years, and he knows a little something about basically.
Hey man, you made your statements on Friday and the Sox got swept. So you've already Okay.
Oh Oh oh And the socks got swept again.
Ha ha ha.
They're in first place by three games right now by my calculations. Welcome back into Rahimi Hearst and Grody on a Friday. I hope everybody's having an amazing day and you're thinking about an amazing weekend. We certainly are here at 104-3 the score. And we are delighted to have back on the program Rob Parker, co-host of The Odd Couple on Fox Sports Radio, MLB Network. Network contributor, founder of MLBbro.com. And we do have to start with some congratulations for Rob Parker. This is actually very cool. I'm just looking at a post from Fox Sports Radio on X, and it says, Congratulations to Rob Parker on being named the recipient of the 2026 J.L. Wilkinson Innovator Award by the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, a trailblazer and sports director.
journalism and the founder of the MLB Bro.com. Rob continues to make an impact on the game and the industry. For real, real Rob. Congratulations. And welcome back to the score, my friend. Way to go.
Well, thank you very much. And I and I gotta admit, it it's very humbling. Uh six years ago, um, I started F Bro dot com with the whole idea of uh making sure we don't uh forget the stories of the black and brown baseball players from the present and the past. Started with a staff of fourteen. I now have seventy all over the country. And um to be, you know, recognized by the Negro League's baseball museum uh is just a a humbling honor. And you know I didn't do it by myself. I have a great staff and J.R. Gamble and Mark Gray are my uh managing editor, assistant managing editor, and the staff that does a great job and the players have embraced us. We have a partnership with major league baseball. They love what we have done.
on this site, so I I'm humbled by this ver this thing. It it it means a lot to me.
You know what? I'm glad we got those congratulations underway and and I'm happy for you, Rob, as always. I've known Rob my entire career as a broadcaster and he's always been great to talk to, lean on and everything else. But now we gotta get to some baseball. 'Cause some things were said the last time we saw you, Rob Congratulations are over. So I remind me of what you said about the I I remember the White Sox 'cause that that stung a little bit. You said they weren't making the playoffs. But you said something similar about the Cubs, maybe not about them not making the playoffs, but you just didn't believe in them in general.
Yeah, well, let's start with the White Sox. I mean, the the audacity that you guys would have me on after they blew that terrible game yesterday up four nothing to the Red Sox and then get swept. They've lost four out of five. The only reason they're still in first place is because the AL Central is garbage and the other teams can't win. That's the only reason.
How did the hosts react to Rob Parker’s recent award and career highlights?
It's not based on anything that they've done. And I we'll see what happens. I'm still gonna pick Cleveland to finish in front of the White Sox. To finish in front of a bicep. How's that?
The team that just got swept by the Mets.
Yes. Doubling down. Oh my god. You are a stubborn man. I guess that's how you win awards though. You gotta stick
To your guns, right? You know what? It's too easy to be like, you know, everybody's a flip-flopper. Stand on it. I I'll give you I'll give you a couple. You ready? Okay. So last year before football season, I said the Chiefs wouldn't make the playoffs and the Lions wouldn't make the playoffs. Those are those were the number one seeds in both conferences last year. I picked them both not to make the playoffs.
