After being in business now for over 32 years, and I've worked with over 30,000 trades and construction business owners, I'll tell you now the exact number one problem and issue that everybody's got in the business, and that is lack of time. Time is the most valuable currency that every single one of us has on the planet. And I know for many people they are chasing the money and trading time for money, and they say, no, money is the most valuable asset. No, it's not. Time is the most valuable asset. I can teach you how to make more money now. It's very simple. Put your prices up. Up by fifteen percent today. But how many of you are prepared to do that? Not many. For them that do, I'm telling you now, you'll make more money overnight.
What we've got to do is we've got to be an expert in managing our time. And over these 32 years, I've made some terrible mistakes when it comes to time. And if you know my story and you know my journey, and if not, go back to episode number one, you'll know that I have become the ultimate busy fool. But having worked on myself and my business for the last 18 years, I've completely turned that round and I've gone from working 90 hours a week, stress starts at max, robbing Peter to pay Paul, to achieving time and financial freedom. And that is now what I teach other trades and construction business owners. And when we can free up our time. We use that time to reinvest back into the business. We can start to generate more profitable leads, systemize the business.
I've time to spend looking at the numbers in the business to increase the profit margins, build a team, and properly scale our business. But we can't do all that if we're rushing around like blue horse flies and headless chickens firefighting day in, day out. So one of the first things that we work on with my inner circle members in month number two is the time management. How can we get back as much of your time as we can so we can reinvest it back into the business? Now, the first thing we have to understand about time is every single one of us, doesn't matter who you are, what you do, we have all got the same amount of time every week. And when I say to someone, you know what, how much time do you have a week?
How many hours do you have in a week? Some people actually don't know and they have to stop and they have to think, oh, hang on a minute, 24 hours in a day times seven days a week. Oh, I know that's under 168 hours. Come on. If you're running a business and you want to achieve time and financial freedom, you have to be an absolute time management master and you've got to be disciplined with your time.
