Welcome to the Talking Health Tech Podcast. My name is Peter Birch. Today on the show, I'm joined by Bin Rong, CEO, and Bowen Zeng, head of engineering at Fachera AI. G'day, gents, how we going?
Good, good. How's your day?
Really good. Better now I'm talking to you. You know the drill. It's great to have you on the podcast. Uh, you're really keen to dive into this a little bit more as I've learned more about the company and the work you're doing and this kind of how far things have progressed and and uh really the stage you're at now. But uh let's unpack it a little bit more because I think uh a lot of people are gonna get um some new information, kind of confirm some understanding. and kind of even potentially uh open up some eyes about um you know the the role that ai can play and and uh automation in all parts of healthcare but firstly maybe if i go to uh you guys to introduce yourself tell us a bit more about you and what you do and also tell me if i've got the name right for chera ai for for for sero it's a uh unique name bin I'll start with you tell us a bit more
Yeah, thanks for having us here. And yes, uh a lot of customer, their first uh question is how to pronounce our company name. Actually, when we're trying to get the company registered, we find all a good name has been used. Um but we luckily we found this uh uh Latin word supposed to be mean a good meaning with create a something out of nothing. But the pronunciation is a little bit uh strange called facchara. So we had a customer, she has a bit of Italian heritage, and she suggests we have closing word called faceri. Uh which sounds very good. So we pronounce us as facciari from there.
Got it. Yeah, and I was yeah, I wasn't too far off. No, but uh a bit more about um uh actually Bowen as well. Firstly, like uh y you and your background and the work you do at uh Fachera.
Yeah, so I'm the bone. I'm the head of engineering here at Futura. Um so I've been working with Ben since actually we met from before Futura. Um been in tech our whole lives. Um really saw this um basically since, you know, three year just over three years ago now when we first saw uh GPT three point five really hit the world and everyone everyone saw what the current, you know, generation of AI could really do. Uh, we saw a lot of the opportunity um in this and basically we got to provide, you know, automation across, you know, the world. Um but we really saw that, you know, healthcare is such a, you know, underserved um industry and we felt like we could definitely do a lot of good in here um and really help with healthcare both in Australia and also across the broader world as well.
Yeah, a hundred percent. What about you, Ben?
Yeah, and I uh did my PhD in computer science in Australia and cut my T C in IBM, TJ Wilson, New York uh Center. Research on the first generation of big data. Then I went back to Australia to build the first Australia's first uh mobile taxi. A hailing product for silver talk and mobile payment as well. So I built a lot of uh I work in AI and computer science for about 20 years. So uh before we come here, I work closely with Boening, our previous company.
Yeah, got it. And then what brought you to then, you know, the the opportunities that present in healthcare? Tell me a little bit more about that, why and and why you're on this journey.
How did social workers’ paperwork inspire Facere AI’s healthcare automation?
Yeah, that's um actually we first uh start this company because we have some uh tragedy story.
