Cleo 1:32
Oh well, I think my story is a really good one to share. Because I have a different perspective on this because I've ended up staying in the relationship I'm in. After an affair.
Anna Williamson 1:46
Okay, yes, this is a slightly different perspective and we cover all different dynamics, as you know, on the Affair Podcast. And you've listened to uh the other series, haven't you?
Cleo 1:58
Yeah, I am a massive fan and I think listening to them has actually helped me get to where I am now in life. I think I've needed to listen to every side of it to understand how I've got
Anna Williamson 2:09
to this point. Now that is really interesting. Well, thank you. That is exactly the purpose of this podcast is to maybe give people different perspectives, a bit of comfort for some people. It can be cathartic for others. It can help people get some clarity. Um, so I think that is really interesting that you uh have set the scene already that you're in a relationship still. where there have been affairs that have taken place. And I think um many people are going to be very curious as to know what happened. And indeed, why you are still in that relationship. And I know I am one of those. So let's start at the beginning. Um so to set the scene then, you say your relationship um has sus has has uh dealt with affairs.
Anna Williamson 2:56
What role do you take in that? Is it you that's had the affair or have you been on the receiving end or another position?
Cleo 3:03
I unfortunately am the one that was cheated on and Yeah. And it another thing about coming on is I've really realised that relationships aren't black and white and being the one that's been cheated on. I think a lot of people have expected me to walk away from that straight away and I always say to them it's just not as black and white as it seems. Until you go through that, I don't think you know exactly how you would handle it.
Anna Williamson 3:33
Right. And they say, you know, walk a day in someone else's shoes and then you can truly understand or give give honest perspective on on what decision you would make. Um well as you know, this is a judgment-free space, um, which I I hold um in the highest regard. So Tell me then, so this is your husband, is it? Partner, husband? We
Cleo 3:57
were engaged. We are no longer engaged. We have not hit that point yet. Um but yeah, I would say long term partner, childhood sweethearts, and yeah, my only sort of long term relationship that I've been in and the same for him. Okay, so childhood sweetheart. So how old are you now? I am in my thirties and so is he. And we both met I think I was fourteen actually. Um we met playing table tennis at a youth club and pretty much hit it off Um Yeah, our relationship started quite serious quite soon because I found out I was pregnant at seventeen.
