my back. What is going on? Welcome on to the backpacking podcast brought to you by Outdoor Vitals, makers of performance first, ultralight gear, and with me always, the man, the myth, the legend. The king of growing, the most beautiful scarlet beard you've ever seen in your life, and the king of Kentucky backpacking. Jeremiah Stringer, who's actually over here. What's
Jeremiah Stringer 0:22
going on, dude? What's up, bro? On my screen you pointed the correct direction.
John Kelley 0:28
On my screen it's like the Jeremiah's here. So what hey, listen, man. Before we get into this Last week we touched on the Carbon Evo fifty backpack.
Jeremiah Stringer 0:39
Oh
John Kelley 0:39
yeah, could be a new favorite. I'm gonna tell you, man, I'm I'm planning a trip here in a few weeks. We're going into uh some some really hilly territory. We're talking the first day we got three thousand feet of elevation, which for this chubby dude is brutal. And uh we're we're gonna be doing elevation every single day. We're gonna be doing a lot of climbing. And uh I am stoked about using this backpack. The way it carries is phenomenal.
Jeremiah Stringer 1:05
Yeah, it's the Carbon Evo fifty backpack by outdoorvitals.com. We'll link it in the description if y'all want to check it out too. Yeah, John and I have both been using it and uh I'm undecided right now. I'm gonna follow up with Mr. Backpacking with Jason, sir, but I may be taking it out this weekend. It I love that it forces me. It's fifty-eight liters and less than two pounds. So it it kind of forces me out of my comfort zone into bringing less stuff because I always bring everything. That

alone is
Jeremiah Stringer 1:37
hilarious to me. Well, that's just me. I mean, you can get different torso sizes, short, regular, and tall. Right. Honestly, I think I went with a regular. My torso is normal size. Maybe I just got the long legs. You can get extra small all the way up to extra large on the hip belt and it comes in white in the color in stock now. And uh you want to tell them how to save some money, John? Yeah, if they join
John Kelley 1:58
that live ultralight membership, you can get up to almost thirty dollars off of this thing. So definitely something worth checking out. And with that said, Jeremiah, I've got another question for you. Yes, dude. So the last few weeks we've been having these episodes and your internet has been as ADHD as my nine year olds or my eight year old son. And so um can you fill us in i i has there been any improvements? On on the internet. I mean are we gonna am I gonna have to do this solo for half of it today? What's going on?
Jeremiah Stringer 2:27
Well, I gotta tell ya, um I did a little behind the scenes editing last week to pull back the curtain for everybody. So it probably looks smooth to you, but John done a great job carrying the episode whenever my internet cut out. And I was so disappointed the episode with Dixie, some of that I I missed because the internet's acting up. So let me tell you in thirty seconds what happened, John. Okay. Okay. Everybody
John Kelley 2:50
who's watching, can you go ahead and start humming the uh Jeopardy theme song while we're doing this from your computer? From your computer
Jeremiah Stringer 2:58
and and Jeremiah, go. Dude, uh, my students hate when I say that because I'll be like, Okay, let me give you this lesson in two minutes. And then they like literally will start timing it because they're always like, You said that was two minutes, that was eight minutes. Anyway, I'm already over 30 seconds. Let's go. So Spectrum's my internet, and I called them immediately after we got off the air last week, and they're like, Yeah, we'll send somebody. I scheduled it for Saturday, one o'clock. One to two o'clock they said they'll be there. Two o'clock comes, I call 'em. Hey, no technicians here. No word. Nothing. I wait four o'clock. Finally somebody shows up. I was so angry at spour o'clock. Four o'clock. And so I called them and I was like, hey, I'm wasting my whole day here.
Jeremiah Stringer 3:46
They said this is gonna this could take three hours. You want me to wait from set one PM to seven PM on a Saturday? You want me to waste my whole Saturday getting this internet fixed when I'm already paying for it and it should already work.
