I'm wondering how it is that folks think all of this feels to someone like Eric Spolstra. I mean, I know that the wheels have fallen off of the Miami Heat, but at the center of it is a man who's, over the last 15 years, nobody's reputation has been improved more by being around the Miami things than Eric Spolstra has. Widely regarded throughout the sport as the best at coaching. This season has been an apocalypse. Bam Adebayo is a mystery. I don't understand why I'm ever watching an NBA game where he's two for seven. Yeah. I don't know. I don't understand how that is happening now. and what happened to a team that uh... uh... i'm gonna say revolutionize basketball or was trying to play a position was basketball the time that the sport was changing and now the at the era of that collapses at the finish line with portland having a better record than the heat but where where spolstra is in the middle of that who's never seemed like the joy
He's a bit of a mystery figure, right? Because he's boring on purpose, talks the Spolster cliches, but, you know, underneath, a Miami Heat lifer, loyalist, and there's some misery in being in that cooker. Like, the pursuit of it is 80 hours a week.
I believe it was Pat who said there's winning, and then there's misery. And clearly they're not winning right now, so...
But it's not just that. It's that the whole thing has collapsed. And it doesn't mean that they can't get other players, but the two that they were building around, they're out there and still in the fourth quarter, they can't do anything.
Last night's different than some of these other games, I think. Like last night, they just got outplayed. the Clippers are a better team they got outplayed from the jump and they never really had a chance in that game the games that you look at where you wonder what's going on it's the games against the Hornets it's the games against the Bulls and in both of those games it's floundering down the stretch but really what it is is building up a 15 to 20 point lead early in the game and not having the firepower to put it away and hold on to those leads in the second and third quarter it's when you're up and you can't step on another team's neck and end a game. And that's because of the dysfunction that we've seen offensively and particularly defensively for this team. But the problem's really been they can't get Tyler Hero and Bam Adebayo to play well on the same night or for the same stretch. Hero was elite as a three-point shooter, as a scoring guard up until February.
