We're going to be talking to New Yorkers about not only about what happened in New York, about this blue wave that went across the country. You can't call it anything else but a blue wave. I mean, you've got Abigail Spanberger. You've got Mikey Sherrill. I mean, she won the governorship by 15 to 13 points, respectively, both of them. How are you feeling?
Well, if we're going to remix the blue wave, we would call it a blue tsunami because it wiped out the mega extremists all across the country and Democratic candidates in New York City, in Virginia, in New Jersey. We won in Pennsylvania. We won in Georgia. Of course, we won Prop 50 in California to stop Trump from stealing the midterm elections. It was a decisive moment. repudiation of Republican extremism and an affirmation that Democrats are clearly focused on making life better for everyday Americans, driving down the high cost of living, fixing our broken health care system and making this country the best version of herself. Peter, I have to say, you know, I was worried and I think a lot of people were worried that, you know, maybe people wouldn't resonate.
All of these awful pictures of that you see around the country of masked men picking people up off the street, many of them American citizens, women. They were only supposed to do that. They said the criminal or the most criminal or whatever. And that didn't turn out to be the case. For me, it feels like the people are sick of it. That is the portrait of the Trump administration, cruelty. And the folks who won last night won with dignity, humility, humanity, right, and not treating people cruelly. We're all entitled to due process in this country, not just citizens. The Constitution says all persons. Do you think that people went to the polls with that on their minds? I think absolutely. That was an important part of what drove record turnout in so many places across the country.
