Good morning, everybody. I'm back. He's back. Hi, everybody. So glad that you could join us this morning. It is 10 a.m. Eastern time. It's Hot Topics. And I'm back from vacation. And boy, did I need it. I stayed two days longer than I thought. Thank you for the welcome, Holmes. Hello, Miss Kat. Hello, everyone. Did you guys miss me? Probably not. We had so many great hosts, so many great people filling in. And I'm a little out of it because I landed late. There was a little bit of a weather delay. It took me forever to get home. But I can't complain because I've been on vacation and I so rarely get to go on vacation. And so I want to thank everybody. I want to thank Nikki and Peter and Andy for keeping the train on the track and doing a great job, more than keeping the train on the track, but doing a really, really great job of keeping the network afloat.
And all of the great folks who filled in for me. Did you guys like the guest hosts? Some of them filled in like at the last second, at the last minute. I was like, hey, I'm having connectivity issues. I can't get on. I don't have the right equipment, blah, blah, blah. So Jennifer Welch, thank you so much. Angie Pump Sullivan, thank you so much. Jolly, Katie Fang, Recy Colbert, Clay Kane, Tara Setmeyer, Jay Jordan, Charles Coleman, Francesca Fiorentini. I mean, wow. What a lineup and all of the breaking news. I did happen to get on for a little bit because of the Diddy breaking news. And there was some other I think it was just a Diddy breaking news and some other stuff. But I got to really tell you, I'm happy to be here.
I'm happy to be back. But the thing that has really been bothering me the most is what I why I'm a little bit late because I was writing something. I wanted to get it up for you now, but I think it was just I didn't want to rush it on. But guys, tell me where you are streaming from, where you're watching us from. But I got to tell you, the thing that's really been on my mind is Texas. And just watching the horror and the devastation of the people coming out of Texas. But more than anything, the thing that's been pissing me off is the media. And, you know, I hate that term, pissing me off. I just hate the way it sounds. But the media has been really ticking me off. And so has the administration. The media and the administration, and it is because everything is so watered down now.
I'm writing a piece for Substack, but I'm gonna tell you a little bit about it because I remember being out there on those streets and on the waterways and on the sidewalks and in people's yards during Hurricane Katrina and not being afraid that I was going to get fired or worried about some repercussions that I was gonna say the wrong thing about the administration. What I was most concerned about is that the people of New Orleans and the people of where I was later in New Orleans, but initially in past Christiana, Mississippi, I was there when people were coming home to their houses that were washed away. And as I was live on NBC, People were literally picking up their belongings as I was live, and I walked over to them, and they talked to me.
They were finding baby pictures. They were worried about their animals that they couldn't get. They were telling me this was part of my house, and my house is two blocks away. They were carrying the shit that they – the only thing that they had – In grocery carts, pushing it down the street. And we weren't afraid, not only weren't afraid to report that, but more than anything, we weren't afraid to hold the administration accountable. We were not afraid to say that it was bullshit, that George Bush was saying, heck of a job, Brownie, to the man who was head of FEMA. And what about FEMA now? That's the whole point. So for everyone who's afraid in the media, who's saying, well, I don't know if it's the administration's fault and you can't directly tie it to the, yes, it's the administration's fault.
Now the administration can't control the weather much as Marjorie Taylor Greene would say, oh my gosh, you know, they're controlling the weather and there's Jewish space lasers.
