And so we wanted to make sure that we brought it to you with as much clarity, as much facts and as much sensitivity as possible, because there is a lot of stuff going on. In addition, 14 children and three adults were injured, okay?
The shooter has been identified as Robin Westman, a male born as Robert Westman. Westman. The FBI will continue to provide updates on our ongoing investigation with the public as we are able. And so the reason they said a male born as Robert Westman is because the reporting at this point is that the shooter is transgender. The right is losing their minds over it as if the gender of the shooter is more important than the cause of this. Having the wrong people having access to guns. Too much access to guns. An overabundance of guns in our culture. Not enough of a focus on mental health issues. Not taking the stigma off of mental health. Not... Encouraging people to go and talk to someone, to get therapy, to take care of their mental health issues, to get medication or whatever it is that might prevent them from doing this.
And perhaps even not an acceptance or an understanding of trans people. Who knows why? There is no legitimate reason for going into a school and doing this. So the fact that they are over indexing on the idea that this is happened because the person is trans is just bullshit. And it's just a distraction from not talking about the real issues. As I will tell you, transgender people, like any other people, can have mental health issues. Just like the straight male shooters, the overabundance of straight male shooters, that's who it usually is, white male shooters. shooters, it's usually a straight, young, white man. And so just as they can have mental health issues, so can transgender people. And also, guess what?
Transgender people can be on every spectrum. I know conservative transgender people. There are mega transgender people. So it does not mean that the shooter, because the shooter was transgender, reportedly, it does not mean that they are necessarily liberal or can fall into a liberal or conservative category.
