Active hostilities, we are told, stopped. The 60-day negotiation begins. J.D. Vance is saying that it is digitally signed, but they just have a little bit to get to and then we'll figure it out. We'll see because we have heard this before. We've seen this movie before. And so we'll see. The 60-day negotiation window begins now. And if it holds, it may be the biggest foreign policy development of Donald Trump's presidency, which is kind of saying something. Not kind of saying something. It's actually saying something.
Because his presidency is the reason that we needed this in the first place. Let's not get it twisted. We want to remind you. This is the end of a war that killed 13 Americans, that has closed the most important waterway in the world for 104 days, that has driven your gas above $4, that has sent shockwaves through the global economy. If the Strait actually reopens, if inspectors actually get on the ground, if uranium enrichment actually stops, then this is a very big deal. But this is the same administration that tore up the Obama-Iran deal in 2018, that called it the worst deal ever made, that reimposed sanctions, that set the conditions for everything that followed, and is now rushing into a 60-day window to permanently dismantle Iran's nuclear infrastructure.
Okay? It's like watching someone burn your house down, and then they show up with a garden hose and try to start putting it out, and then they expect a huge thank you. And this is the same Trump who just last Thursday posted on Truth Social that the U.S. would attack Iran very hard tonight in the capital letters and then cancel the strikes and then announce the peace deal and then talked about wanting to seize Karg Island all in one afternoon. We will believe it when the inspectors are on the ground, when the Strait is actually reopened, when the gas prices actually fall, when the people, when this deal is actually signed on Friday and the people say, okay, some reprieve. But if it holds, if it holds, then give credit where credit is due, I guess.
I don't know if you can give credit where credit is due because none of this had to happen. None of it had to happen because the American people who have been paying for $4 for gas and watching 13 of their fellow citizens die in a war that was supposed to last for two or three weeks, they said they deserve to have it over.
