Uh well, they invited me on because they wanted to talk about uh the Democratic Party being overrun by socialists and communists. And um I did a little bit of research knowing I was gonna be on with Bill O'Reilly, so I was prepared to talk about all the times that Bill O'Reilly called Barack Obama a communist on his show in two thousand eight. And I think Bill was a little flustered by it, more or less. I posted it on my social media.
Um, but they've been doing this forever. They call everybody a socialist or a communist, doesn't matter. Like I I think I told a story on another show this week where Bill Clinton in the nineteen ninety two campaign was called a communist because once in college he went to Moscow on a school funded trip and the Bush campaign called him a communist. So it's like they've been doing this forever.
Yeah, you know it's real so let's talk about that. But we're gonna talk about this this whole uh subterfuge this the plane thing. But um I was speaking to someone who is not, you know, uh has nothing to do with politics, it's just a a a grandmother. Right, who sits in front of the cable news all day and she said, You know what? Um I think Democrats are playing this wrong because maybe they should be leaning into the whole thing, but you know, try to get away from the communist thing. But maybe they should be leaning into it because she doesn't believe that that's a um it's a bad strategy. You should own it and say if the DSA or if progressives care about um, you know, the cost of things, or a living wage, or health care, or Medicare, or all of that, then

Yeah, I don't think you should care because they're gonna call us that anyway, and I think that's been proven out over the last thirty, forty years. I I think it's it's an easy place to be though, is like you can call out the stuff that the DSA has in their platform that's super unpopular, like abolishing the police and abolishing prisons and stuff like that, which I think is is silly and bad, bad communication strategy. And you can call that out. And by the way, most of the DSA candidates that are running and winning elections have run away from that stuff anyway, including Francesco.
During just like during prior elections where Democrats said they don't believe in defunding the police, but there were a few people who in the party who did, and the right made uh the right media and politicians made a big deal out of something that was not a Democratic Party um proposal or platform.
Yeah, but I think they'll the Republicans are gonna do that with something anyway. Like it doesn't matter. They're gonna find one dumbass on the internet and they're gonna make the whole party answer for it because they've got this incredible right-wing eco chamber that they've created that dominates the narrative in the media. I think what Democrats have to do is stay laser focused on affordability. Don't let Republicans dictate the terms of the conversation. This election should be a referendum on Trump, and we should be advocating a positive vision. for the future. We can't be like suckered into actual Trump derangement syndrome. And I think as long as we do that, we're gonna win the midterms.
