Here we go on a Wednesday, a lot of stuff percolating. We are live, we're in Los Angeles, and it is The Herd. Wherever you may be, and however you may be watching, listening, thanks for making us part of your day. You know, part of why I think football, pro football, is so much fun is that not only are the outcomes, you just never know that the Rams and the Chargers are going to be awful in Week 1. But all of a sudden, there's a game or two in week two, and you're like, well, I didn't have that pegged as a big game. Green Bay at the Jets now is suddenly gigantic. Not for the Jets. They won for Green Bay. They've lost six straight games. How many, no college coaches, how many pro coaches can lose seven straight games without losing the trust and the faith of the front office or the ownership?
Packers don't have that, obviously. The players in Green Bay may not be publicly grumbling, just like your boss isn't publicly grumbling, but if you haven't hit your sales number in nine months, he's lost faith in you. I guarantee you some of that locker room has lost faith in Matt LaFleur. Folks, they're not just losing six straight games. They have the worst point differential in the league in that stretch. Worse than the Jets Cleveland in Arizona. Sack differential, points per game, points allowed, near the bottom of the NFL. This is a well-run organization. I'll give you six straight losses, Andy Reid last year, if you lose your quarterback for all six. I'll give you six straight losses for any coach that coaches in Cleveland.
Belichick lost six straight in Cleveland. But you cannot have a great unified locker room, which is what you need to generally win on the road in a field goal game. If you lose six straight and that's always been the payoff in Green Bay, right? Playing in Green Bay for most athletes is a negative. There's nothing to do. It's a tiny town. I live three hours from it. OK, like I'm lucky I'm by the city. There's nothing to do in Green Bay and everybody knows it. Even for a college kid, there's not a lot to do. So the payoff is you win and they've been doing it since Favre. And now they're not. And what's more troubling, and I think you know this, what do I always preach? Are you great on your side of the ball?
D'Amico Ryans may not be able to solve C.J. Stroud, but that Texans defense... Maybe not week one, but that Texans defense is amazing. And it was even the first year he was there without the personnel. Say what you want about Lincoln Riley since he took over USC. They have the best passing offense in all of college football, 135 teams. Green Bay is bad in the fourth quarter, and Jordan Love's inconsistency is troubling. He can't solve it. Bro, that's why we hired an offensive coach, to solve the offensive stuff. I mean, Jared Goff was broken, and McVay solved it. Brock Purdy was a seventh rounder, and Shanahan solved it. Kevin O'Connell had to play a backup Sunday and solved it. How many years is Jordan Love going to be this talented and hard?
Can they turn the corner on his lack of consistency? I don't ask Mike McDonald, as great a coach as he is. You've got to get the O.C. right as a defensive coach. But when you're an offensive coach, I don't care about your O.C. The bottom line... Sean Payton gave the play calling to a guy, and Bo Nix was awful. It may be time to take it back. One more week, let's see what transpires. Like, it may be time. So that's my thing. This is not just, oh, it's a six-game losing streak. First of all, that's a ton for a well-run organization. But that Jets game now is seven-game losing streak? Because, again, your wife doesn't publicly grumble when she's upset.
