And I'm Gretel Corrie. I am a ceramicist and freelancer and live in Sydney with Declan. And we met at Splendour in the Grass.

We had both gone to Splendour in the Grass separately with two different groups of friends, but with those groups of friends, there was a mutual friend who was already a couple. They had been dating for about a year, and we then met via them, through them, at the actual festival.
I remember it was on the Thursday night so before the festival almost really starts and they came over to our campsite for like some pre drinks and like the five of them came over and I knew Pip one of our mutual friend but then like the other four didn't really know that much and one of them was Gretel and like straight away saw her face. She was wearing a silly, what was it? Was it a tiger beanie or something?
I don't know, it was an animal beanie of some description.
That first night we kind of hit it off and went into the festival, saw a couple of musical acts. shared a kiss on that first night so i was stoked uh before the festivals even really started got a bit of a kiss and then over the next three days one of the days we didn't even see each other did we
no deck and it's like still true to this day declan takes his festivaling very seriously and he had timetables and places to be and events to see so i was like i was it was even lucky that i fit into your schedule

Yeah. If you go to a music festival, half the fun for me is, like, hanging around the campsite and, like, you know, talking shit with your friends. So, like, that was pretty easy because we only knew, like, five other people there and one of them was Gretel eventually. So we came and hung out at your campsite a couple of times, Gretel. You came to ours. Yeah.
Yeah, we ultimately formed a little bit of a crew, like they're both different groups of friends and we just, I don't know, it was very relaxed and it wasn't like we were suddenly in a festival relationship. Yeah, no, we just got to hang out. I don't know, I think it helps that you're drinking for three days straight and so we both found each other pretty attractive after that.

bit higher. You're happy to talk to anyone. So it's not like that, you know, next day after you kiss someone, you're a bit awkward about it. It was like, well, I'm going to be seeing you for the next three days.
I think you also, which I thought was one of the nicest things ever, when I was a little bit worse for wear one day, was carrying my bag around because I don't think that I was able
to. Good. Yeah, I don't remember that. But that's good to see that trend has continued
over the
years too.

one night so gretel they were gretel was staying in a really big tent with four girls and um gretel invited me back to the tent and we went back to the town we just slept we just slept just in the tent didn't didn't have anything further than that but i still remember it was one of the worst sleeps i've ever had because it was a tent for four and there was effectively an extra person in there on a blower mattress falling off the side of it and i think did i leave early in the morning
