When we put up a call out, I know we've said this a lot, Pip, but we actually had the most replies I think all year when we put a call out just saying like, hey – Hit us with your love stories. Like, do you have a rom-com? Do you have a make-cute? Do you have a story about your partner? Do you have a story about a love in your life? And we had so, so many replies.
When we were going through the DMs and hearing your stories and your voice memos, I genuinely shed a tear. Like, there were tears. They were so beautiful. But I just want to say... We loved every single one of them. Thank you for sharing. But this episode has to stop at around 40 minutes. So we couldn't fit all of them in. And there were a lot of similar stories.
So basically, please don't be upset if you don't hear your story. We just had to cut a lot to be able to fit into this ep. Could not have said it better myself. Honestly, like we listened to so many and we were like agonizing over it. And yeah, what you hear and what you like, yeah, what you hear today, there was like triple, quadruple the amount. And we just simply couldn't fit it all in.

A lot of people said that they met their loves of their lives out in the wild, which gives us hope because like we said, we'd be shitting on dating apps over here. We'd be shitting on it. I hope that your like motif throughout the wedding, you know how people are doing like a real like lemon moment, like a, like a Grecan kind of lemon. I want you to have tomatoes. I want you to have like tomato napkins, tomato plates.
Alexandra, please, please tell us that it was tomato themed. I hope so. Like you were saying, like we love to eat up these stories about these like chance moments as well. And this is something we've done episodes on before and we really hoped we would get some more stories like this, like that kind of sliding door moment. And yes, you came through and told us some really, really beautiful ones.
This is Laura's love story. So my husband and I actually met back in 2013 on a plane and I wasn't even supposed to be on that plane. The airline had changed the dates on me and so I had to take an earlier flight. We got seated together and we just started talking. He was an international student in Australia and I was learning Chinese and it was a flight in China.
So I was in China just for like study and holiday and so on. And so we got along really well on the flight.
So I asked him for his details and we swapped contacts thinking that we would just help each other with language when he got back to Perth. And it worked so well. We were friends for like six months and then we just made the leap into dating and we got married in 2019.
I... love a rom-com where it's, like, by chance on a plane. I will say that, like, we did get fed the whole plane love story rom-com thing. And planes are very unromantic places. But when you find love in a hopeless place like that, when you're, like, crammed in, the meals suck, someone's farting in row A, and you're like, fucking hell. But...
You meet someone and you connect and you maybe trauma bond. Okay, and speaking of sliding door moments, we got this DM from Brendan, which I absolutely love this story. He said, We had so much in common. We talked nonstop. She was easy to get along with. But then when the movie started, she sat next to the guy that invited me.

Like I remember every single thing that you spoke about.
I remember how you smiled. I remember what you wore. I remember this and that. And like that to me is just the epitome of love, right? Like you said, like you just want to feel seen. And I just think nowadays – So many people just getting like a sup, you up, you know what I mean?
Yeah.
So it's like, it's so nice to hear when people are actually still sending texts like this to each other. It is so nice. And I think the bar, as you said, is quite low. And even if it's like a you up, it might be like, they remember my coffee order. Oh my God. I'm like, babe, an oat latte is not hard to forget. Let's- Brendan? Let's bring up the Brendans of the world.
I want you to print out his text and put it on your mirror. It's so good. Okay, not to backpedal on what I've just said, but sometimes the love of your life does send you a cheeky little DM or a text online. We know people. Shout out Aurelia St. Clair, who actually married her partner and they first swapped flame emojis to each other. So love can happen there.
And I know we were shitting on loving in terms of like online dating and stuff like that. But that's how people are getting together now. And you guys had so many stories about the people that you met online and how it worked out. Rose saying, I met my partner on a vegan singles page in COVID 2020. Our first date was a beach clean. And now we've been married for five months.
I rest my fucking case. That is crazy. If someone asked me out on a beach clean date, I would marry them then and there. Oh yeah, on the spot. You'd be like popping the knee in the sand. I made it very clear immediately that I didn't want to be friends. I wanted to climb him like a fucking tree. And he was cool with that. So we talked all summer. We FaceTimed all summer. I used to stay up till 6 a.m. so that I could talk to him before he went to work. He came home. We saw each other, I think, maybe the next day or two days after he got back from California.
And first thing he ever said to me was, hi, do you want to kiss? And I did. So we did. And we've been kissing ever since. in at least seven years in September.
Wow. There's really something to be said about those like internet friends that you kind of keep on the fringes and like her being like Tumblr, like Facebook, Tinder, like all of these places that you would have connected with this person. And I think as well it's almost like when you know you know. Like there was a part of her that deep down knew that's why she always wanted to keep him there.
Yeah. And I just love that she didn't fuck around. She wasn't like, no, I'm going to like, you know, just feel it out. She was like, I want to climb your next tree. Mm. What's going on? Let's do this. And it worked.
That's what I love sometimes when people are forward in love because it's like we've been taught, I think, that you have to be, you know, as women in particular as well, like so like timid and just like, you know, make sure that they're chasing you. And I think when I hear stories like this of women being like, Nah, I'm keen.

Shout out, teachers, you don't get paid enough. That's right. We love you. So we've been talking about so many different types of love here, but I would go to say, this is just how I feel, that the most important love of your life And the most important relationship is the relationship you have with yourself. I do believe a great philosopher once said, the longest relationship you'll ever have is the one with yourself. Yeah. So why would you not nurture that? And why would you not prioritize it? And why would you not put a whole lot of love into that relationship? Yeah. Investing in yourself is so important and we've talked about it a lot and we'll keep talking about it.
But, you know, we had a lot of people who'd said that and, yeah, There was a story that we got sent right from Dave. This is a kind of a complex, it's not an easy like love story in a sense, but there was something that Dave kind of discovered about himself and what he needed to do. And we were like, this is a real nugget of like truth and wisdom. And we thought you would like hearing it as well.
I fell in love by accident, really. It was at a time where I really wasn't looking for a relationship. I was working with someone. One thing led to another. We started hooking up quite a bit. And then I went away on holiday, and so did she. And during this holiday, I found out that she was pregnant. So that became pretty intense as she was back home and I was on, I was abroad.
But yeah, I came back and then had this whole complicated story with an ex, with her ex-partner. And one thing led to another and she wasn't safe after an incident that I had with him. And she moved in with me like straight away. And we weren't even dating at the time. From there, we pretty much realized we liked each other a lot and started dating.
Had a wonderful year, except for the fact that I cheated and had to do a lot of self-evaluation. And we broke up and it became this whole big mess. And we're trying to work things out now. And it really, really forced me to reevaluate myself.
and go to therapy and understand why i did what i did because the problem was that i believe i just don't love myself at all um or at least i didn't and in order to love someone else wholeheartedly i really had to just get my shit together and stop drinking and just really focus on how to better myself through therapy and by reaching out to friends and like going on bold ones it's
Been crazy and she's the love of my life and I want to do everything in my power to make things work. But I've got a lot of work to do myself. I know what I want and I know what I need to do.
I just want to say thank you so much for being so vulnerable with us on that. And I think like a lot of the stories that we've heard today have been kind of like sometimes linear. I mean, obviously long and sometimes there's complications, but this one was definitely one of the more complicated ones and there's obviously been a lot that you've gone through.
