What dating apps exist beyond Tinder and how do they differ?

Georgia Grace 0:00
Well It's great to get a sense and to figure out what you want from using apps and if there are apps out there that are sp that ask you those specific questions or um really encourage you to get a sense of what you like, what you don't like, who you're into, who you're not into, then it almost makes it easier to m meet the right person or people for you. When it comes to dating apps, there's a hell of a lot more out there than Tinder. Out of all of our listeners who use dating apps, one in three are on Tinder. But if Tinder hasn't worked for you, there might be other options. Actually, we we know there are. Hey, I'm Nat Tencich, and you're about to get the ultimate guide to dating apps and which ones you should be on for the most success. But I wanted to find out which ones you're using. right now and if they're working for you.
Unknown 0:58
I have, yes. I ha Tinder. I did get a couple of dates out of it. Uh maybe one or two hook ups. I think we've all done that, haven't we? Tinder definitely like three years ago was quite different. It was a little bit more un unknown. Choice was a bit better, like in terms of like not being completely flooded with guys with their tops off. And just a photo of their abs and a pizza. No, I don't use dating abs. Why not? Um I don't know. I just never got a chance to really download one or try it out.
Nat Tanchich 1:35
Are you interested in dating? Like how do you meet people?
Unknown 1:37
Uh face to face, uh online, you know, with similar interests. We'll grab something to eat. So like yeah, just keep it simple I guess. Have you ever used a dating app before? No, I have not. They terrify me. The idea of being judged on how I look in like a split second swiped either way, I just can't handle that concept. And and then being the kind of person to do that to other people freaks me out as well. I use uh one dating app called Field. I just found it through search engines and kinda looking for the right app. But uh I use that one because uh it's kink related, so it has a lot of stuff on there, not just for one on one monogamous hookups. Uh heaps of gender expressions and uh yeah, just different interests.
Unknown 2:21
So what are you on? Just Tinder. I used to be on Bumble as well, but no, just Tinder. What was good or bad about them? Can I be frank with you? I just use Tinder for just meaningless, uninhibited sex. Um, not really dates. I wouldn't look on that for a relationship. Which ones are you on? Uh grinder and tinder.
Nat Tanchich 2:40
So what are your experiences what have your experiences been like with both of those?
Unknown 2:45
Uh unsuccessful uh Tinder no one ever really talks especially like the gay side of Tinder. You just kinda match each other, it seems really superficial, and then no one wants to even say hello. And then grind is the complete polar opposite. You get so many like or bumps or taps or whatever and it's all just like we want to hook up, very hookup culture, so it's kinda like either end of the spectrum, there's no like middle ground of substance like where we can just like date and hang out and like get to know one another, it's either like Do we want sex or do we just want to match each other and have a little pretty album of faces that we never talk to?

How do listeners describe their personal experiences with Tinder, Bumble, and Grindr?

Unknown 3:20
So that's basically like my experience. I have used dating apps in the past. Uh I've used Tinder and I don't know whether your grinder qualifies as a dating app. It's kind of an open meat market, um, which can get pretty sleazy, pretty um disappointing, and you see also a lot of racism. Yeah, so particularly in um Australian gay communities, uh the f we we often see kind of like no Asians, no fats, no femmes of transphobia or body shaming. Um and and those things are just accepted as uh status quo or or allowable.
Nat Tanchich 3:52
How do you like feel in general about dating apps and and their use and and communities around them?
Unknown 3:59
Um, I'm in two minds about it. One, I think in a culture that is as hyper digitalized and like overtly connected over the internet as it is, we sort of need them because we've become I don't know, it's it's sounds really cynical and I'm a young person, but I think that there is a lot of
