What is the opening rundown of the final joint practice between the Jaguars and Buccaneers?
Welcome into Jags AM. It is the second day of joint practice between the Jaguars and the Buccaneers. I'm Canani Steven, France X and John Osier with me. And guess what, guys? We made it. It is the final training camp day. There's a walkthrough tomorrow, and then obviously the final preseason game, but we made it. I did not have John singing Voice to Men on my bingo card today, but I'm ecstatic about it. In
the nineties when p uh Pete Prisco and I worked together every Friday when the work was done he would close his laptop and sing that. So that's my that's my only number. I did not know it was Boys to Men. Uh now
you do.
Boys to Men uh to me is one of those new groups. Oh, is it? Okay.
Well they've uh they were doing pretty good for themselves for the that little new group they are. Um Today's show is in our outdoor Hyundai studios, our final show out here. The guys are stretching, getting ready for the day. Uh no what are they, half pads today? Looks like spiders. Yeah, shells and spiders. Okay. Let's get into our big things brought to you by GEHA Government Employees Health Association and big thing number one is win the day. They try to win the day every day, but if you talk to Baker Mayfield yesterday, he says he doesn't know if his team would have won the day.
Tough. Uh I thought, you know, they gave us some good looks. They were playing with their hair on fire. So that um we definitely if this was a a full game, I don't think we would have come out on the the winning side of it. Um so just a little eye opening, gotta get back and watch the take.
How did the coaches evaluate the Jaguars’ physicality and “win‑the‑day” effort in practice?
You know, it's never as good or as bad as you think it is, but um I think from from my standpoint it they outphysicled us and that's that's never what you wanna have. So um didn't doesn't matter who we have out there You want you want guys that are gonna do their very best to be the more physical team and and warrant more and I don't I don't know if we did that today.
So a little subjective who wins a day, but um I would say the Jaguars were definitely physical and got what they wanted to get across yesterday.
But Josh Hines Allen had a Chase Young kind of day. If you go back to the New Orleans practice where Chase Young was all over the backfield, Josh Hines Allen was. I mean he was. John, I thought he looked sensational. Trayvon Walker did as well. Uh listen, the home team, the team that's hosting the practice, should. Yeah. They didn't travel, they're not staying in a hotel. They know all the surroundings. They should have the upper hand. And I I I thought for a lot of practice yesterday, It looked like they were ready to go.
And what you just said, watching a lot of these practices over the years, that's usually how uh usually it plays out. For a game it's a little different because players are ratcheted up for a road game. Right. For practice, remember uh the Jaguars in New Orleans did not start that practice great. It makes sense. Um look, they've had two joint practices since that Saints practice, and both of them I don't know who wins. practice but both of them there were swaths of the practice where you went that's a pretty good team uh and doing a lot of good things that you like uh I'm standing on defense yesterday I'm standing by the defensive field yesterday and you see them breaking off long runs on the offense meaning Bay Shell Tootin and Rodriguez you see all these good things um they're a good team and they've practiced well the last
Yeah.
last uh c a couple of times they played uh they've played other good teams.
d to to beat the teams to death, they responded. Right. I mean that that was what they wanted after that day in New Orleans where it didn't look so good for this football team and and every day since when they've had the opportunity, they've responded.
Let's go to our second big thing today, which is last call, because as we mentioned, this is the final training camp day. And for the starters who aren't going to play probably in that final preseason game, this is their last padded work for a while against someone that's not on their own team.
