It is Monday, August 17th. This is Jaguar's Happy Hour. Jaguar's happy hour is brought to you by Jet Home Loans. And now not only will she bring a new level of intelligence to this broadcast, but She's got hair. Kai nanny.
Kainani Stevens 0:25
Set very high in some ways, but very low in other ways. Welcome in. I'm Kainani Stevens. I'm here for our first edition of Happy Hour on Monday of the 2026 season. And we've taken the place of JP Shadrick, who has taken his talents to the desert. We will miss him very much. And uh it's next minute, it's next woman up around here. So we're gonna do my very, very best. And we have a very special day because Pete Prisco here with us in person. Austin Lane, of course, with us as well. And we're gonna do our best. We'll uh make this into something a little bit different now.
Pete Prisco 0:56
But we don't who are you talking about, JP? Who is that? I don't know who that did. Austin,
Austen Lane 0:59
do you know who that is? I mean, you know, I I believe he was here for an extended period of time. I think we worked together a little bit for a year and then he decided to put up the deuces and say, Yeah, I basically drove him away. What do you what do you
Unknown 1:09
think like the eleven years, right? We were together, I think we were eleven years, I think. I mean he was here when I was when I got drafted never.
Pete Prisco 1:16
And so the one year you did the show and then you left? When you left? Yeah, you did.

Who are the hosts and guests introduced for this episode?

Austen Lane 1:20
I mean I literally drove him away for what? Just to say that's love for three yards, uh that's love for two yards. Like is that all he's gonna be doing it in the box with the Arizona Cardinals or
Pete Prisco 1:29
not? Well, probably. Until until they get a quarterback.
Kainani Stevens 1:33
There we go, maybe soon. Um lot coming up today. Obviously, we finally have a preseason game to talk about, but coming up presented by D Feddy vodka, handcrafted with real fruit, proud partner of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now It's Monday, August 17th. It was a slow start, a good finish for them, at least a little bit of what we saw in that preseason matchup. They did have a joint practice as well with the Saints in New Orleans. So we'll talk a little bit about that. And the O-line issue, which at one point wasn't that serious, has become a little bit more serious after another injury in that game. And of course, we'll keep it real as we always do. So welcome into this edition. We're going to talk a little bit about that game.
Kainani Stevens 2:06
And it didn't start off really great, Pete.
Pete Prisco 2:12
Yeah, kick the ball to the end zone.
Kainani Stevens 2:14
Just Oh, I know how you feel about special teams. That's true. You don't like the kickoff at all.
Pete Prisco 2:18
Yeah. I mean look, you get a r you get one of those run back on you s maybe you start thinking about putting it into the end zone.
Austen Lane 2:23
Yeah, and shout out to Jalen Husky, who kind of got bogged down a little bit, ended up making a great play to save the touchdown and everything. But it started with Jalen Husky and it ended with Jalen Husky as well. Like listen, this is this is literally the first live reps going to the ground I feel like the Jaguars have had all preseason. Because usually even in special teams, they're taking up and everything. So this might have been a little bit of a wake-up call to be like, hey, we're not just uh hand on the hip anymore. This is actually live reps we're going here.
Pete Prisco 2:49
And then bang they went in and scored, you know.
Kainani Stevens 2:51
Immediately after it and it was a missed tackle, I think, by Muhammad as well on the goal line or it was a it was a couple of guys. Right all guys. There was a couple people. I don't want to just name one name, but also the thing with Husky, if you mess up, at least he's got the speed to get back there and get the tackle. So that was important. Yeah. I mean he is a rookie. We have to give him some credit for that. But uh how do you feel about the backup quarterback situation, Pete? Because I know all of us we would we would appreciate watching maybe someone else. I know it's probably a good place to be where the backup quarterback is your biggest issue maybe, but it was it was tough to watch at points.
Pete Prisco 3:21
I mean, it's a helium balloon. I mean that's what he is.
