Saucy wings are delicious, but when we have to do things, it's a little difficult to eat. So I hope you all were at home and were able to have wings and watch that beautiful Jaguars victory. And I know I enjoyed it. I got my wings after the game. That was that was clutch. I'm Kainani Stevenson for Jaguars Happy Hour, presented by Jet Home Loans. And of course, coming up today, we have a ton to talk about from the Hyundai Studios because the Jaguars got a win. Our first victory Monday of the 2026. season and they did so in decisive fashion. Smooth operator Trevor Lawrence looked absolutely smooth as butter yesterday. Got four touchdowns, completely dominated, and just looked so comfortable. So we will certainly talk about that.
We'll keep it real, all about what we saw in that game and we'll answer your fan questions a little bit later on. So I want to welcome in CBS sports senior writer Pete Frisco and former Drag Wars defense Ven Austin Lane and happy Victory Monday boys. We talk.
Happy victory Monday. The the the first lock of the season and we all get it right. And we got
the triple lock is now not an issue anymore because this was the the correct game to use to fix it. Oh the
other guy was the other guy was the Mood.
Correct. I'm here now. Triple locks are now allowed. Um, but uh that was fun to watch, especially 'cause we haven't seen the starters in so long. It's been since the Buffalo game that we've seen them play. So it felt like finally, all right, this team worried at all about a slow start, no problem.
Yeah, I thought I thought it was fantastic. Uh I mean, again, you're playing against a team that's not very good. Um, so you're at home on opening day. If this had been a game in the middle of the season, I might have think they'd look past them and look to Denver, but that didn't happen. And because it was on opening day and they they did what they had to do. You put that game away and you were and then you, you know, sit down guys that need to sit down and move on the next week. So it was a dominant performance against a bad football team, but a dominant performance.
I mean, yes, it was a against a bad football team, but week one, I think it kind of shows you you can't take anybody lightly, right? Like I mean, if you would have told me the Chargers get beat by the Cardinals, I would have said you're crazy, but lo and behold, that happens. And and this is what I think good to great teams can do. They win the games, they're supposed to win, and they win it in decisive fashion. And my biggest question mark going against the Browns was okay, you didn't really play any of your starters in the preseason. season and everything, are you gonna come out flat? Right? It will take some time to acclimate and everything while they hit the ground running, you know, the foyer look and interception, and then it was pinning their ears back after that.
So I I mean I guess going forward if Liam Collins wants to rest these guys for the entire preseason, cancel joint practices, give 'em four weeks' rest. I mean, this team came ready to play against the Browns. I thought it was a great showing overall.
Ye had to admit though, the first couple of plays you're sitting there going, What's going on here? Cleveland's going down to three. I did think. I was like,
maybe it's a you know, a new team, new coordinators, new coaches, right? So you don't entirely know what you're gonna see out of the round. So I was like, maybe that first script'll get 'em a little bit, but then I was like, Oh, Venturel Miller doing a cartwheel and then uh Voye getting the pick. So I was like, All right, we're fine. We're back where we were last time, getting turnovers and getting after the quarterback. Um I was impressed with Trayvon Walker Pete. I know you were. Uh the defense really disruptive. Deshaun Watson is what he is, but they were in the backfield all day.
