A beautiful day in Jacksonville if you happen to be out there and beautiful play on the field because the playmakers were making plays. We talked last week about some of the stars. not stepping up in the key moments, not a problem against the Patriots in week three. We will keep it real as we always do about the pass rush coming up. And we'll answer some of your fan questions.
Gonna get those in in the four o'clock hour today. So we can answer all of those fan questions for you. CBS sports senior writer Pete Prisco, former Jaguars former defenseman Austin Lane with me. And what a fun, fun game that was because obviously in Denver they just couldn't quite put it together. It looks kind of ugly. It was close in the first quarter in this game, but then the Jaguars took full control and really took advantage of all the opportunities given to them. Austin, it felt like this was a game uh we talk about that response, right? They say Liam Cohen talks about response all the time. This was a a strong response.
It was a response. It's something that they've always, um, I feel like has been their identity when they haven't played up to their standard, whether it was going back last year to the Houston game, whether it was the Buffalo Bills game, they kinda let the Bills off the hook a little bit, that transferred uh to the the Cleveland Browns game week one, um, or the Denver game that transferred now to this Patriots game. They they've always responded and that goes to show you that even though sometimes it's not gonna go great, it's the NFL it happens, that they buy into their coaching game. And by the way, they had a bad game against Denver, still a close game. New England played a bad game against Jacksonville and it was thirty five to six.
So it goes to show you too, even when the when it's the bad games, how the Jaguars are still, you know, in the mix of it.
Yeah, and and coming out and just dominating that game a after the first quarter. tells you where they are A as an offense, but I I think it it also says a lot about New England. I mean, you know, and I said before the before the season I didn't think they'd be a playoff team. I thought they feasted on a bad schedule. I thought Drake May had concerns at the end of last year and they've carried over. And you know, I I said it last week. I I did the research on it. He he played every one of the teams he played last year in the regular season had a scoring defense that was ranked twelfth or higher or lower, I should say. You know, in the tw a lot of them in the twenties and the twenty five. In the playoffs he played, I think seven, four, two, and one.
And then so far in the regular season he played one, which was Seattle, I count you know, at the time. And then the Steelers were nine or eight when they played him. And I think Jacksville was six or seven in scoring defense when he played 'em. So He doesn't play very well against good defenses. And Jacksonville took advantage of that. And and I think that's why they they won that football game. I mean, we could say It might if not for a couple drops of blood, maybe the game is different. Did you see that today?
Yeah, I saw so obviously we had that Drake May fumble situation that Devon Hamilton rolled over onto the ball and after the game Drake May said that his center had blood on his hands and you can see in one of the photos there is blood on Drake May's hand when he's throwing the football, but It's for me, yeah. Okay. Say that happened.
