What is the defensive rotation philosophy for cornerbacks and how does it keep players fresh?
Camp uh I know last week you talked about the rotation at cornerback, um some but just could you break down sort of what the philosophy behind that is?
Yeah, like I said last week, uh we feel like we got a bunch of good players there. Um, you know, guys that do a good job and have worked their their tail off. Um, we feel good about all those guys. So keeping them fresh and uh rotating them all, that's kind of been the philosophy behind it.
um is like in particular with Travis, just because he didn't play much last year to sort of get him more reps, like what's the balance there uh between rotating and then also helping you? Yeah, I
think that that's always a challenge to a degree. Um, you know, and the more reps obviously you get the better you're gonna be. So Um, I think as time goes, you're always looking at those things. Every game's a little bit different, you know, and you're uh those conversations are always being had every game, it it can change week to week, but Yeah, that's that's always a challenge.
The way the Broncos offense kind of attacked with some of the quick sets, quick throws and reset in the pocket, how can you impact the quarterback a little bit when they're doing that stuff to kinda negate some of the riff?
Yeah, I think I gotta do a better job, first and foremost. Um, you know, you go back and you look at that, I think probably just Too loose in some situations. Not probably. I think we were too loose in some situations and uh ultimately, you know, that's that's on me. I gotta do a better job with that.
Uh we have mentioned that might be there's a lot of maybe too much volume in the plan against Denver. Uh did you feel that way and or was it just right?
Yeah, I think you're always looking at that every game. Um obviously when you don't get the result that you want, you go back and you look at it and you say, Hey, if there if there was Anytime you have uh a miscommunication or we have a eye violation or something like that, I always look at that and you gotta look inward first. Um and that's possibly the you know, the issue having too much volume in the game plan. Uh and paring it down at times has been good for us, you know, in the past. Uh that's something you're always looking at. But yeah, coming out of that game I think that's I would uh I would agree with coach's sentiment.
Well how'd you practice go yesterday?
I thought we had a great practice yesterday. Um, I thought uh a bunch of guys in particular had a really good practice, you know, that jumped out to me. Uh I thought Travis had a great practice. He's one of those guys yesterday. Um so yeah, I was pleased with our practice, our effort. Um, seem like there'd a little bit of anger out there, which is always a good thing. You know, football's a game of a lot of emotions and mad is usually a good one.
When when you look at that Patriots office, what do you see?
I I see a really good unit. Um, I see a really athletic quarterback uh who's super accurate, super accurate on the deep ball. Um it's it's honestly It's been a great system for twenty some odd years. Um, you know, and I think Coach McDaniel's done an unbelievable job. Uh in his career, you know, everywhere he's been, but certainly in New England. Uh. of making you be sound defensively, you know, and he has a great eye for seeing what he can take advantage of and I think they've done a great job of that, uh certainly last year the whole season and and this year starting out.
What kind of challenge is it when a team has two running backs, they kind of lead on, so they're just on one?
Yeah. And they're they're both great players, a little bit different. Um, but that's a challenge, you know, uh getting in there and I think Stevenson is a physical runner. I think they're both physical runners. Um, but yeah, that's that's definitely a challenge 'cause you got some guys that can can break it, you know, if you don't get your eyes right, you're not playing with gap integrity, there's not a team tackling mentality, those things are gonna show up and they're gonna get ya and they've gotten people that way.
