How did the first on‑one pads drills impact the offense’s consistency?
You know, we did obviously one-on-ones for the first time today with the pads on. I thought those guys did a nice job of getting some work in while protecting each other. And then one-on-ones in the Mamba I thought was nice as well. I thought we got some good quality work. Good to see some of those guys make some plays one-on-one in those situations. I'd have to go back and look at the protection, but it felt somewhat clean. know it's that'll ramp up more like we'll continue to get more of that good on good work uh as we get the pads on and are in pads more consistently Yeah, I mean, he did kind of what he you think he's going to do in a way, right? I mean, I don't think he meant to necessarily like look.
I don't even really lowered his shoulder on Caleb. It just was one of those hits and yeah, he showed up, which is kind of what you're hoping. I think you know he was. feeling better. He's continuously getting better and we're just trying to be smart with all right, getting him to work, getting him acclimated while not trying to aggravate it, knowing that we're so early on and I know he was excited about getting the pads on.

Yeah, Yeah, I mean, it's like it's football, right? And we are. It has to be an edge for us here in Florida. And knowing that shoot last year, right? We had a delay and all that, you know, week one and just we got to get that working now with some of the other like the one on one pass game. That would have been a waste of time to do out here. So we wanted to make sure we got clean work in there, which I, you know, is some good work. And then, you know, these guys They don't care, right? And they want to just play and they'd prefer to stay outside on the grass than go inside. So I just typically, you know, you're concerned just anchoring, guys anchoring and slipping out, whatever. But it's football. I mean, stuff happens.
Yeah, I think he's done a nice job.
I mean, it's part of what we've done, moving those guys around and seeing what sticks. And if that ends up sticking, you know, hopefully that's a good thing for us. And I think he's put together five good practices so far that you're pleased with seeing the consistency.
What adjustments are being made to protect the quarterback in the rain?
That's something that we're continuously challenging, not just Anton with, but that entire unit and group is just consistency, consistent effort, consistent technique, consistent finish. But I've been pleased with them just handling it pretty seamlessly so far. Yeah, I thought Rook did a nice job today. I thought he flashed, you know, more today than maybe in some of the previous days. I think he might have had two sacks in the Mamba period on the first two plays of his rack. So nice to see him flash. It's always a little bit more realistic when you get the pads on. I mean, the whole thing is like pass pro sucks with no pads on. It just does. So it's nice to see him win when you're expecting the pass rush to maybe be a little less than it's been because of the pads being on.
So that was nice to see him flash. And, you know, we talked about BJ flashing and some of those. I thought Danny flashed a little bit today as well. So we need those guys to continuously give us some meaningful reps. the connection man the chemistry between not just he and Trevor but us right me as a coach as a play caller the rest of the group the entire team's confidence and swagger that that brings when when you can throw the ball over somebody's head it's just a It's a threat, man, and it's something that we need. We need not just him to be able to do that, but win on some of the other reps. He's run a lot of routes out here that maybe weren't getting targeted to him that he's won as well that I've been pleased with.
I think it brings everybody up. It elevates everybody's game when BT's playing at his highest level.
We didn't get to talk to you yesterday, but what did you think about Travis making the splash plays on both sides of the ball?
Yeah, that was good. I mean, just coming off of what he's gone through to come out and make an impact fairly early on, right?
