But I think just like I've talked to a couple of guys this week about it just feels good to be at week one and game planning and prepping for an opponent. Like you go in the training camp grind just every day. installing kinda every play that you have in your offense and then you get to the end and you know, you've just been doing the same stuff against your defense and um I think having the direction now of of preparing for an opponent and you got something to game plan for. Like that's the fun part and the puzzle you put together throughout the week and you're mastering your plan and getting ready. Like as a quarterback you love that 'cause you know what you're doing and what you're trying to get a get to every day.
Um so that's that's been fun and I think guys are really excited to be at week one.
One thing Leah's talked about is challenging defenses out outside the zombers and down the field. Do you feel like you and Brian made a lot of strides in that area? No doubt. No
doubt. You know, I think the um challenge really for all of us in in our offense is how can every every part of the field be a threat. And I think that the guys have taken ownership of that. I think the some of the different plays that we've been able to put in and different route combinations and the way guys have ran them and got open all spring in training camp have shown um that they can do all that, that, you know, we can make also I can make the throws and that every part of the field is a threat and I think that that's important for your offense to stay balanced and to um stay really effective in the passing game. So I think where we're at as an offense in that department has been good and we gotta continue to get better and now we get a chance to go showcase it on Sunday.
Uh but yeah, I think we got a a good plan and just gotta keep dialing in the details.
Liam mentioned something about the standard being more player driven this year as opposed to last year. Coaches were kinda carrying that flag.
How is the Jaguars offense planning to attack every part of the field against the Browns?
Have you noticed that with the team?
Yeah, I think so, especially as we've all gotten more comfortable together and we kinda know what to expect. Like last year when there's so much new, you got new staff, some new players, you're all coming together for the first time. Some of us have played together before, but you got a new system and there's so many different moving parts that you're trying to get used to and learn. Um, you're learning personalities and I think now there is that you know, familiarity with each other and you know, we can step up and we know We know the standard. We've talked with our coaches a ton and I've talked to Liam. I've talked to Grant, I've talked to Spence. We've all talked about kind of what the expectations are, what the standards are.
And so I think that's the cool thing about as a player and a leader on the team, you know, not just myself, other guys, like you can feel when that standard might dip a little bit and like, hey, we need to pick it up. You know, it's not really up to our standard today. And I think there's been multiple times in training camp where that's happened and guys have had to you know, grab the offense or grab the defence or grab your position group and say, All right guys, let's let's lock in, let's get going here. You know, it's not been it's not been, you know, what we wanna put out there on the field so far today. So I think that's been Notable and we gotta continue to do that, especially in the season, because it can't just be on the coaches to to push that every day.
It's gotta be a player led, player driven thing.
Well you've uh cut down your turnovers significantly from earlier in your career, especially the fumbles.
